Just heard on Sunrise, every team to beat reining champs (this year being the Boks) has gone on to win the world cup.

Hogwash. Aussies lost to England in the quarters in 1995 when they were the reigning champs.
Invictus obviously was a fictional story. :-\

maybe they count it because they beat us in the pool match?

Ok no probs, Corasauras forgot about that. :thumbsup \
My line of thought was beating the reigning champs in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Thought the same until you pointed out otherwise, did a bit of research  ;)

Lucky to be just 8 points down at HT. Quade Cooper might as well be wearing an All Blacks guernsey  :help.

The Wallabies were smashed at the stoppages, had no rucks and kept turning possession over. As some Tiger wag on twitter said it was like watching us   . The Kiwis will now slaughter the French in the final.

He wasn't too bad in the second half but that kick out on the full from the start and the errors he made in the first 10-15 minutes were killers. In the end though the Kiwis were too good and the Aussies couldn't cope under the NZ pressure and made basic costly mistakes.

No surprise in the result

Only real surprise was former Wallabies players spruiking we were a chance  ;D

Probably not too many Rugby Union followers here but the All-Blacks proved again overnight they are just too scarily good. The Wallabies were gutsy to fight back within 4 points from 18 points down (helped by the 10 minute NZ sin-bin) but the All-Blacks had all the answers when it counted  :(. Dan Carter's field goal-kicking also makes a mockery of the "tired-legs" excuse AFL players use for missing getable set-shot goals. Maybe we should bring back the place-kick and dropkick for Aussie Rules goalkicking  ;D.

Carter couldn't bloody miss. You could tell from the first 10 minutes (if you didn't already know) that NZ were obviously the better team. Don't think they lost a line out yet we'd be lucky to say we won half. Wallabies did put in a valiant effort especially after losing two quality players to injury early on, not that they would of got us over the line
