St Louis defeat Pittsburgh  :'( :'( in game 4 today. Final socre 2-1, great pitching dual by all accounts

They head back to St Louis for the deciding game

Oakland def Detriot today in game 3 in Detriot (6-3). Aussie Grant Balfour got the save and supposedly helped clear the benches before the start of the 9th

Boston playing Tamp Bay now and lead 2-0 Top of the 5th

And final Atlanta and the LA Dodgers play later today. If LA win today they go through to the NL Championship

How did they do that? :gobdrop

Also think the walk off came with two outs as well

Cardinals through to the NLCS after defeating Pittsburgh 6-1 in game today in St Louis

Wainwright pitched a complete game

Rookie Gerrit Cole gave up 2 earned runs in 5 innings. Mark Melancon again gave up mutli runs in the 8th  :banghead

Although extremely disappointed with the loss, it was still a great year by the Pirates - very proud them.  :clapping

aye you should be

Cards very experienced post season side, 10 series wins since 2005 compared to Pirates 1 in nearly 40 years

Bucs are on the up

Yep Detroit through to the ALCS to take on Boston

Verlander (arguably the best pitcher in the majors) only gave up 2 hits and struck out 10

Oakland didn't have a hope

They had a hope

My bad, I meant they didn't have a hope facing Verlander

Has an amazing record against Oakland at Oakland

sure does, and if the bats had swung in game 2 when he also had a great game the series would have been over two days ago
