no harm.

makes dollars sense, sponsorship etc.
we don't lose a home game as it would be a GWS home game (also ensure that they won't have home ground advantage given it's played in india)

win win.

much like Port's deal with shanghai.

Got a mate who works at the club and he sent me this.

Allegedly the real reason the club are keen on Mumbai...

Jashwan D'Sylva.
He calls himself, Big J. (171cm)
Dimmer wants him as number two forward.

Exciting times ahead for this club.  :gotigers :thumbsup :clapping

Dimma said he'll be a perfect ruck/forward to give Grigg a chop out.

Peggy said it was GWS that came to us. It will be a GWS home game if it happens. A lot of water to go under the bridge for it to become a reality. Still in the early phases of working out its feasibility.

FOUR clubs are visiting India this week as the AFL edges closer to staging a game in the world's second most populous country.

AFL general manager of China and India David Stevenson will fly to India later this week on a fact-finding mission, and will be accompanied by officials from four clubs.

League CEO Gillon McLachlan preferred not to disclose the identity of those clubs at a pre-season briefing with reporters on Wednesday.

But Richmond and Greater Western Sydney have been pushing since last year to play a premiership game in Mumbai, while Essendon and Adelaide have also been investigating playing a pre-season or exhibition game on the subcontinent.

The Rivalry of the Raj is getting close

Port Adelaide and Gold Coast are off to Shanghai next week for the second annual China game, and we’re being told it’s a huge success and the expanded arena has been sold out already (‘expanded’ to a capacity of 11,500 – not really something to brag about in a city of 24 million).

This ‘success’ is seeing the League ramp up its efforts to get a game in India and you can be sure there will be AFL action on the sub-continent just two years away in 2020.

Richmond and GWS will hit the Hindu highlife, but there’s uncertainty as to whether it will be for premiership points or just a pre-season game.

Surprisingly it’s the AFL that’s trying to keep it on the slow burner, while the Tigers and Giants are pushing for a home-and-away match.

Both teams are keen to invest evenly in the takings and the potential audience, creating an ‘Indian rivalry’ that will hold its own interest for the locals at the expense of the other 16 clubs.

With 1.3 billion Indians to share there’s no need for either club to be greedy, something ‘Kochy’ could learn from.
