Brilliant news, had him pencilled in as a first rounder last year such is his talent :bow

Apparently there is an issue with his mental stability hence why he was cut from Freo's senior list. So if he kicks up a fuss he can be cut and he won't cost us much, on the flip side if he reaches his full potential we have an absolutely ripper  :gotigers

I did some research on BF.  A few phantoms from last year included.

Clayton Collard
Current Age: 19yr
Games: 1
Born: December 4, 1988
Playing Height: 182cm
Playing Weight: 90kg
Position: Forward

Maccas . . .
29: West Coast - Clayton Collard
Already mentioned by name (along with Jetta and Krakouer) by our recruiting manager as players were interested in, potential homesickness could see clubs overlook this talented kid, who West Coast would be ecstatic to pickup. Is a quick, skillful, goal-kicking midfielder, who as West Coast have shown are a very valuable commodity. Houli and N. Brown have been linked to the Eagles as well.

SNoop . . .
16 West Coast Eagles – Clayton COLLARD ( WA / 177/ 80)

Now that they have found Lynch – what do they need? Mids to burn and increasingly good talls. They will go for the best talent and Collard is it. He also fits an area I think they will be looking to – crumbing fwds. Yes they have Le Cras, Sampi etc but goal kicking options would be on their list.

Little on the smaller side but quick with a good football brain and exceptional by the feet. Hard to know where he will settle but suspect he may go forward and settle into what was once Sampi’s position.

O’Brien, Connors and possibly Tippett are the other options.

Weaver . . .

17. Clayton Collard (Carlton). Collard is better but less credentialed than the higher-profile Jetta. Has a hint of Gary Ablett jnr about him. Collard might develop into a midfielder in time and alongside Betts gives the Blues some flair and genuine game-breaking pace and talent across half-forward.

Stoked to pick up Collard as a rookie. Rated as a first rounder in the '2006 superdraft' - Leroy Jetta/Albert Proud/Nathan Djerrkura/Shave Edwards crop. Could be a gem, very talented.

Exacly what we should be using the rookie draft for.

Out: Krakouer - In: Collard  :clapping

Hopefully this talented youngster can make the most of his second chance.
Get to work.

Like Morton, let's hope Collard lives up to his talented reputation as a junior.

Good selection I reckon

SPoke to the kid fleetingly at the last Club80 - was really keen to be part of the Tigers

Could you elaborate on that a little WP? Rough outline of the convo would be great! if he is keen to get to the tigers i would love to know what his initial thoughts are considering the club80 function was before today and he was probably unsure as to whether or not he would be drafted by Richmond.

X-factor?

------------------------
CLAYTON COLLARD:  Rookie Draft pick No.1

Recruited from:  Fremantle/South Fremantle (WA)
Born:  4/12/88
Height:  182cm
Weight: 90kg

Speedy, skilful forward, who represented WA in the 2006 under-18 championships and was an AIS-AFL Academy graduate.  Was taken by Fremantle with its second-round selection (pick No. 31 overall) in the 2006 National Draft.  Managed just the one AFL game with the Dockers during the '07 season and was delisted by them at the end of the year.  Was subsequently thrown a lifeline by the Tigers, who asked him to try out for one of their available spots in either the Pre-season or Rookie Drafts. Renowned for his silky skills and marking ability.  Is a potential excitement machine.

Ya reckon.  Jetta(I assume you mean?) has been in plenty of trouble with the Dons and wouldnt want Collard sucked into that.
