Richo out of the forward line.
« on: February 19, 2008, 04:33:15 PM »
Hello all,
I am new at this forum looking forward to the season i think. :pray I beleive it is time for Richo to get out of the forward line.
He misses way too many goals.
He demands the ball and lets you know if he does not get it.
He demands space to run.
He controls the forward line too much.
Don't get me wrong i love Richo he has been great for the Tigs, but lets set up the forward line with Cleve , Patto, Polak ,Browny etc. Maybe have Richo on the HFF at the most. I think he would be good on the wing as well.
One other thing we need Lids 70% in the middle 30% in forward line to good to be up in the forward line all game. ;)

Welcome WA.

I can't see Richo playing elsewhere at this late stage of his career. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks as they say.

I still reckon our forward line would be more potent if we had quality mids who can pass accurately and who moved the ball forward quickly. On friday night Lids and browny also missed gettable goals and they also had to put up with 25m passes bouncing 5m in front of their leads  :scream.

he gets the ball plenty
he misses everygame the easy goals & it makes the team perform badly & hang there heads
he needs to get out of the forward 50
& if you cant teach a old dog get rid of him period
this is professional football not a charity to help bad skilled players stay in work
if he was at any other club he would have been traded years ago or put in another position
his had many good FF coaches including Roach teach him he cant grasp it delete him

i think Richmond needs to look at a young FF and CHF ...

Richardson can still play in the Forward Line ... but not our main target ...

like Richardson said in the Herald Sun ... "it would be good to see a new leading goalkicker" ...

so HFF is best for Richardson ... his body would last longer running then crashing bodies at FF ...

it seems that Richardson isn't talking about Retiring too ...

to me, he basically is letting the committee deciding his future ...

if he has a big injury that will be it ... but i think he can play for a very long time ... he will out run anyone ...

his kicking is a big problem which we will know ... so kicking around the ground could improve his kicking ... because he would know to be more careful GUIDING the ball to foot ...

i watched the match again ... to see how he was kicking ... and he drops the ball to far from his foot ...

that 9 point shot that hit the post ... the ball once he let go ... turned around again ... and kicked the ball which was moving away ...

so i think if he could guide the football closer to his foot ... he would get a better contact ...

so Richardson for HFF ... time to play Roo and Hughes FF and CHF

Like everything about that.  FOr this club to move forward with the youngsters they must be given the no. 1 spots.

There is still room for Richo in the team but its not at FF or CHF anymore.  He can still run like a gun so while not use him in a floating role?

We need to see who's willing to grab their chance and take control of the forward line for the future.

Richo needs to either play as a Lynch-style FF, 25m from goal, or as a lead-up CHF. One or the other, not both as is often the case. He needs to "play a role" in making our forwardline function, not BE the forwardline.

I don't think Richo has ever really understood that notion. So I'm not sure that he ever will.  :-\

West Coast Round 5 2007, should have been the forward setup for the whole season.

Then the Geelong game happened, Wallace panicked and we went back to basics. :P

It's only preseason but just for the record 23 scoring shots last night compared to 20 last week so make of that what you will. A difference or hardly any difference?
