I believe it is as the AFL forbid clubs to play practice matches in the week immediately prior to round 1 beginning. Won't stop some clubs having another intra club match though.

It looks like The Cats will be fielding a close to full strength side. Would much rather win the season proper but if we can grab this one by the scruff of the neck and give them a good shake (whilst still experimenting/manipulating match ups). It could only be advantageous to the direction in which we are taking the list. Could be a springboard for the season proper, especially if we don't field a similar team to the Saints game, which i personally think alot of people perceived to being full strength. Let me just say i am not one of those people.

I just hope we are competitive and of course no more injuries  :pray.

My guess at the 28 squad. Reckon we'll also go close to playing our round 1 side from who's available.

In:  Cogs, Polo, Morton, Bowden
Out: Schulz (inj), Polak (inj)

B:     King       Thursfield    Bowden
HB: McMahon     Moore      Newman
C:    Tivs            Foley         Polo
HF:  White        Richo        Petts
F:    Hughes      Lids          Brown
R:  Simmo        Tuck        Tambling

Int (from): Sugar, Collins, Raines, Riewoldt, Howat, Jackson, Patto, Silvester, Morton, Cogs

You would think Edwards would get a run before the season starts. Perhaps in for Collins? Is Connors still injured?

Yeah perhaps you're right RROFO. I wasn't sure with Edwards as he has just comeback from a minor quad. Plough seemed pretty pleased with Collo's first game when interviewed on SEN so perhaps Rainesy or another small will make way for Shane if he does come in. Connors missed a fair bit of the preseason so I'm guessing he'll need to still build up his match fitness at Coburg.

Big guns to return for Tigers clash
Bradley Green
03Mar08

GEELONG will field virtually its round one line-up in its final practice match of the pre-season against Richmond at Skilled Stadium on Friday.

The Cats are in an envious position heading into the start of their premiership defence in a fortnight, with just one player - All-Australian defender Matthew Egan - on their long-term injury list.

Several premiership stars will return for the match against the Tigers,  which starts at 4.30pm.

Geelong scored a comfortable 40-point win over Brisbane on the Gold Coast on Friday night and Cats assistant coach Brenton Sanderson said it was time to play their best side.
