Coaching
« on: February 29, 2008, 04:53:52 PM »
l been hanging on this for sometime & thought it times to start a thread

Matthew Knights who is a knowledge of football on & off the field is now coaching Essendon
he done his time coaching before taking over a AFL club
watching Essendon play its Nab cup games it clearly stands out they are playing a new breed of football compared to when Sheedy was there & l think its also got alot to do with the standard of assistant coaching coming from Prescott & others
They are exciting to watch with fast flowing football running in numbers
Watch tonight you will see what l'm talking about they have a great game plan & stick to it

Then the crunch  ;D

How come Richmond style of football has never changed over several coaches & many years
same mistakes, bad foot skills, bad kicking for goal, chip kicking, sideways, backwards, no running in packs, hand skills, soft weak bodies, no fighting, no maning up & most of all no hard ruff stuff l want to see them do
l can go on but why is it Knights can change a team style of play within months (winning games) & our dumb coaches cant change anything & we not winning much in fact we got nothing to brag about
l seen them train & they are the worst training side in the league compared to any other clubs l seen

NAB Cup form can be misleading. Some clubs take it seriously; others don't. It also depends on where each club is in their preparation. You don't want to peak in February/March. Carlton too looked a million bucks in Feb/March like Essendon has so far yet still finished bottom 2 in the years they won the preseason cup.

As for us, IMO our gamestyles have changed over the years (Walls was very different to Northey, Plough different again compared to nuff nuff). It's just that we've had poor lists that make any gamestyle (under pressure) look crap lol.

 :rollin :rollin thats crap
we still playing the same style as Frawley
different list with short kicks, turnovers, indecision, & bad skills
alot of our list never made them mistakes before landing at Richmond
l think Wallace is not the guy to coach us he aint got no gameplan

I have to laugh at this, you call someone ""nuff nuff""
Wallace is the nuff nuff.
Can tell you, Walls and Northey could coach, Wallace cant.

As for Tigermonks comments about Wallace, you are spot on.
Coaches dont liked to be proven wrong, Wallace in particular. He doesnt listen to anyone else, its his way or the highway.
If Wallace gets blown out of the water early in the game, he tries to close the game down so there isnt a blow out.
His pre games plans are soemthings thrown out the window after 10 minutes in the game, FACT

Matthew Knights seems to be doing a nice job at Essendon and hes only been there coach for 5 minutes. Richmond is a real worry. How does Knights turn Essendon into a half decent unit and Wallace and his team dont seem to get any improvement into our team and theyve been there now going into season 4.

If Knights is doing such a nice job, it doesn't really say much for Sheedy.

its the list and team that sheedy built, and knights is just carrying on sheeds works, its not rocket science!
if sheeds was still there they would be playing just as well

knights still talks to sheeds for advice and tutorage and guidance

ffs some ppl

Didnt Sheeds coach for 27 years straight.

Can tell you that Knighta has completely different views on the game than Wallace, Matty will suceed, Wallace wont.

Knights is a footy smarts person & has a different approach which works for his gameplan
that dont mean Sheedy was a bad coach
