0.3 to 7.5 in the last quarter. Ouch! Sounds like they thought they were premiership frontrunners backing up from the flogging they gave Geelong last week.

Dare I ask TFL but how did JON do?

Edwards game yesterday was solid without being a standout. Showed his great skill on several occasions.

JON didnt have much impact on the game yesterday, he rolled his ankle pretty badly early in the game and had an injection in it before half time. He was on and off the ground in the second half and didnt get a great chance to impact the game.

Give him a chance to get right and do well this weekend, he did a couple of nice things during the day.

JON please forget about him he will never play another Richmond senior game
whats the reason Coburg lost did they rest players in the last 1/4 that could be getting a call up, was it injuries, or just run out of legs

No resting Tigermonk, simply overran.

Rawlings blasted the team at 3/4 time for being lazy and refusing to work the other way when they had the footy. Players were trying to do fancy things instead of the team thing.

Once the Bullants got a sniff in the last qtr there was no stopping them. Many of the Coburg players tired very badly with cramp etc. Was probably a combination of getting ahead of themselves and a bit of fatigue.

Not really. It was a combined effort from most of the team

Coburg site Match Report Vs. Northern Bullants Round 2 2008
http://coburgtigers.com.au/

A mild breeze favoured Coburg’s end in the first term, and although the first half of the quarter was fairly even, the Burgers made the most of it late with four goals to give the Tigers a very handy 30 point lead at the first break.

It was the second week in a row the Burgers had got off to a flyer, kicking 8 majors in the opening quarter, as they did against the Cats last week.

Tristan Cartledge was again very dominant in the ruck giving his on ballers first use of the footy, while Jack Riewoldt and Cleve Hughes kicked accurately and made the most of their opportunities.

¼ Time: Coburg 8.2 (50) Northern Bullants 3.2 (20)

Luke McGuane was pivotal in the backline and beat his opponent well, and Jarrod Sylvester created a lot of run from full back, creating opportunities for the half forwards. Damien Rayson and Nick Carnell were fantastic in the middle, winning the majority of clearances. Nat Caruso was also prominent around the stoppages and his use of the ball was excellent.

Shane Edwards excited the crowd with his blistering pace, and kicked an excellent running goal the had the Burger supporters on their feet.

Cleve Hughes was close to best on ground in the first half marking everything that came his way and finishing with four first half goals that helped Coburg to a 38 point lead.

½ Time: Coburg 12.5 (77) Northern Bullants 6.3 (39)

Coburg just seemed to cruise through the third quarter. Kicking towards the scoring end the Burgers narrowly won the quarter, but their disposal efficiency was down compared to the first half.

Although it didn’t seem to matter! And the Coburg fans were probably thinking about next week and that this game was done and dusted. How wrong we were.

Paul Shelton and Dean Polo stood out for Coburg in the third, winning the contested ball when they needed to put their body on the line.

It took the Burgers until the 17 minute mark to convert their first major of the quarter through Andrew Collins, followed by another to Chris Stewart, before Nat Caruso kicked the Burgers third for the quarter just before the siren to give them a seemingly unbeatable 41 point lead.

¾ Time: Coburg 15.11 (101) Northern Bullants 9.6 (60)

The Burgers run really broke down throughout the backline and through the middle of the ground in the final term, and was the major reason the Bullants got back into the game. Northern kicked the only seven goals of the quarter, while in the dying minutes the Burgers went forward on a couple of occasions, but could only manage behinds.

It was a disappointing end for the Burgers after they had played so enthusiastically in the first half. However there were still a lot of positives to take out of the game.

Next week the Burgers are back at home at ABD Stadium against North Ballarat, and the boys will be extremely eager to get back into a winning streak.

RESERVES

The goals were shared around evenly with Putt and Joe Gazzo slotting three majors each.
