1%ers
« on: April 13, 2008, 09:26:23 PM »
Those who saw the game on Foxtel would be able to tell better but it sounded as though we were far improved in doing the 1%ers today going by the radio commentary. Teammates supporting, blocking and shepherding for each other to open up space and allow the player with the footy to have that fraction more time to spot and hit targets.

Can safely tell you that both teams played too much unaccountable football which suited us on the day.
Most of Kane Johnson possesions were behind stoppages or behind play. It will be interesting to see the stats for the game as we would have been extremely high on disposals I would think, nearly a game high ( more than 400 I would think), and also for uncontested possesions. If McMahon had 30 possesions, would think that 25 would of been uncontested. MT can you find the stats ?

Foxtel said Johnson had 36 disposals and McMahon was next highest with 32.

We had something like 425 disposals.

425 would be an AFL high I would think

freo playeed crap becaus ethey way we played did not allow them to play well.

hate to say it but terry was 100% brilliant in the coaches box, and the players were the same on the ground, and they did all the 1%s, it was great watching them shepharding blocking tackling smothering doing it all.  corralling was no where to be seen, and sheparding and tackling took over

about bloody time

I must of been on the wrong Foxtel Channel yesterday, I seen heaps of uncontested unaccountbale football,. thus our extremely high disposals.
As for Terry being brilliant in the box,  Posters on here with little idea have been saying for years that Richo would be better up the ground, well hello.
One game doesnt make a coaching career. Lets see where we are at in a month time shell we,

no it dodnt make a coaching career, but we won nearly every clearance, they ARE CONTESTED POSSESSIONS.
foley tamblin, sugar etc won planty of these.
thursty moore mguane king won may contests in defence as did our fwds up fwd

i think u may have been watchinga different game, buti know what i saw, the uncontested ball we had we deserved becuse for once when we won the contested footy, we did not turn it over as we mostly chose the right options.

i know u hate terry, i cant stand him either, but u have to give credit where credit is due and we played the best footy out of all 16 clubs this week, we played and won 4 quarters and never slowed down

the game over the w/e that had the most unaccountabel footy was the bombers and doggies.

the dockers tried to be accountable, we were just to frikken fast for them

Overall we had 42 more contested possessions (121 - 79). Sugar had 8 and 28 contested and uncontested possies respectively. Most disposals these days are uncontested.
