Summary

* You had to win as heavy favourites and after being so close over the past month?
Yes we needed the 4 points and reward for effort. Been close the last few weeks and a bit deflating for people to say we were playing well yet we had nothing to show for it. So it was pleasing to get the 4 points.

* Any extra pep at training after the win?
No not really. We've stayed pretty positive which has been one of our strengths. We're a tight knit group. Kept the belief up. Always good to get win and the main difference is Monday with not as many blokes dragging their feet around. Nah it's been really good. Really positive.

* One of the features of your improvment has been winning the contested footy and run and carry. This week will be a little different as it's at the SCG so there's little space and you're up against the stoppage kings in Sydney?
Yep a huge challenge. Sydney are strong at the contested ball and you're always sore after playing them as they crash the packs, tackle hard and their pressure is one of the best in the comp. We've prided ourselves on the contested footy this year with the focus on tackling. If you don't do that and apply pressure then you're not going to play. Terry has laid down the law and it's been our focus.

* Own form - you seem to have had no major problems with the leg and are back into the groove?
Yep and Newy puts that down to luck. Break was really clean and luckily went back together easily. Browny and Matt Maguire had worst breaks. All praise goes to the conditioning staff, physios and docs. Touchwood he can keep going.

* Any affects at all or you wouldn't notice?
He wouldn't know. Didn't feel it at all last year and doesn't enter his mind at all.

* How far can you kick the footy? The barrel in the Geelong game that went to centre looked like 80m
Got no idea. Lot of it is luck. Always a buzz when get hold of one. Always a challenge and a bit nervous that he'll kick it out on the full one day. Something he sometimes does at training for a bit of fun. Got hold of one during games and some of players suggested he try it at kick-ins. Lucky enough to get hold of a couple. A wet day so if it didn't come off he could blame that (laughs).

* Emergence of some young guys - Trent Cotchin has been impressive?
Cotch is a really good kid. Always asking questions. Had to do it hard as he'd been in rehab a lot of the time at the club. Just one of those naturally gifted footballers. One touch player who keeps his head over it and never goes to ground. Skills are good for a young player. Only scratching the surface but it's really exciting what he's capable of. No pressure from the club at this stage but it's really good seeing how he is progressing the way he is.

Bowden's dropping was a bit controversial but it seemed to coincide with the team's improvement? Was there a stand from the coaches or match committee for all players to improve and keep them on their toes?
Not sure if it was a stand. In Joel's case he wasn't doing the things required to play in our team at that stage. So they gave him a chance to go back and have a look and reassess and he's come back in terrific form. His pressure's been really good and set an example in the forward line. It's more these are the rules now and following through with them. Yeah he got dropped but good to see him back in.

Christian and the other interviewer said they want more torps on Sunday. At the SCG, one kick and it's to Richo at CHF
Newy said he might have a shot (laughs).
