It costs at least 500k to run an independent VFL side IIRC. That kind of money is another major sponsor's worth. I'd rather that kind of money be put into recruiting and facilities where is needed more.

The Richmond forward line yesterday was effectively the Coburg one 12 months ago so that's drained Coburg's stocks. No Polo, Jacko, White or JON either.

Could some who went give a quick run down on how each RFC player did? Especially Meyer, Cass, Rainesy and Edwards.

Nick Carnell bags Dal Santo's game
« Reply #49 on: June 23, 2008, 03:17:41 PM »
Nick Carnell has publicly taken exception to media reports Dal Santo played very well yesterday. He said he heard Dal Santo only had 12 possessions; not the 19 reported. He questioned how the numbers could be so different. He also thought he did a fairly good job of tagging Dal Santo despite Fiora, Birss and Fisher  constantly blocking him. Even said Jay told him he did a good job. He spoke to Brady Rawlings before the game to get some tagging tips.

SEN claimed Carnell went public because he wants to be picked up by an AFL club.

I don't blame him. If he does have AFL ambitions then playing against Dal Santo would be a huge opportunity to show what he could do. If he did a good job but then the stupid media misreported it, for whatever reason, that would be very disappointing and very unfair.

Good on him for standing up for himself.

Carnell well and truly had the better of Dal Santo. He gave him basically nothing all day and when Dal Santo did get the ball most times it was under pressure and he added little value to the teams performance yesterday.

Carners is a real terrior and always sets himself for the task at hand. Everytime he ran back onto the ground with Dal he would constantly bump into him and kept letting Dal know that he wasnt going to let up.

Dal Santo would have been very happy once the final siren went.

VFL clubs are well known for including AFL listed players in their best when they are far from it, sometimes you only read what they want you to read. Be no surprise to see Dal Santo straight back into the team next week.

As for a rookie spot, i think Nick would be close to warranting a pre-season. He works extremely hard and is very dedicated. He also works the other way and gets his own ball at times.

Gave big Rix a nice bump in the middle of the ground yesterday and he was very groggy!!!

I don't know tigersalive...

But I can honestly say I didn't notice Dal Santo that much. I wasn't standing there thinking to myself "who's on bloody Dal Santo"  ;D I don't remember him doing anything over brillant.

Coburg too? lol

Carnell trained with us before the 2006 drafts IIRC but was overlooked in favour of Kingy. Just wondering if he's improved since then to get another shot.

Was listening on SEN this afternoon. 12 I think seemed to be the logical consensus however there were stories brought up of a 19 possie game as well as a 23 posession game that included 6 behinds. :lol :rollin :lol
