Richo passes fitness test
« on: July 21, 2008, 06:31:15 PM »
Ch 9 news showed Richo doing a "intense individual training session" in front of the medical staff at Punt Rd today to test out his hammy and he got through fine. Richo said he still has to get through training this week but signs are good for him to play against Brisbane  :thumbsup.

Updated: 20:02, Monday July 21, 2008

Richmond's Matthew Richardson is on track to make a faster than expected return to AFL this Saturday night against Brisbane.

Richardson has sat out the past two games, with a hamstring injury.

The Tigers forward was put through a tough individual session today, and is hopeful of returning to play.

Richo is now the X-Factor to the team. We can structure up and win without him now but he adds the extra strength to the team whether it is as a link up player or floating up either end of the ground to lend support.

Having him out of the forwardline has made a world of difference to our developing young forwards and we are far less predictable this year.

Great to have the heart and soul of the team back in!  :thatsgold

IMO we missed Richo against the Bombers far more than they missed any of their stars. Simmo popped in for a bit of tall muscle for some contested inside 50's but Richo would have made them pay on several occasions.

RICHMOND is set to welcome back Matthew Richardson for Saturday's crunch match against the Brisbane Lions, ruckman Adam Pattison says.

Richardson, 33, has missed the past two matches with a hamstring strain but was moving freely at training on Monday.

"He's looking good. He was running around [on Monday] and he'll definitely be in contention, I'd say," Pattison told Melbourne sports radio station SEN on Tuesday morning.

Snippet from Sportal
Richo ready to return
22/07/2008 3:20:46 PM
Angus Morgan

"He [Richo] trained yesterday and he got through that session pretty well," Wallace said.

"He had a bit of a kick around today in what was basically a skill-based session, but he's got through a couple of solid sessions."

"He's been out over-and-above the time of a normal hamstring - it will be nearly four weeks before he'll set foot back onto the ground."

"Timing says that he should (return), but he's got to get through the week."
