New Assistant and Development Coach
« on: July 29, 2008, 07:23:52 PM »
I heard that our coaching staff will be expanding for next season with a new assistant and also a new development coach to assist Craig McCrae(hopefully he stays)

Who do people think we should be targeting as potential coaches?

My thoughts for assistants are: Nathan Buckley, Leigh Colbert (Flea may be able to get him over the line), Peter Sumich, John Longmire

Not sure on the development side of things but believe Paul Hudson, Garry Hocking and also Mark Neeld are doing well in the TAC with the juniors.

Thoughts?

If I was in charge of the RFC, i would get all the cash I could find and offer NATHAN BUCKLEY the position of Senior Coach.
He will be the next coach of the decade, He is an inspiring person . We need leaders at this football club, not spin doctors.

Well this thread is going along nicely.

Should we consider anyone who may be retiring from the game this season?

Maybe not those retiring this season but I'd certainly look at those who've retired last year or the year before.

Great players don't necessarily make good coaches.

Yeah but that doesn't mean he is going to make a great coach.

Look at the coaches in the AFL with the exception of Leigh Matthews who was a great player and a true champion (a word used too loosely these days IMHO) and perhaps Roos the current crop aren't "greats" of the game, most were good players but not great and to take it further some weren't even good players, they were just average

I think he should do an apprenticeship...

If he was interested I'd certainly offer him assistants role.....

But he hates Richmond so I reckon there is "buckleys" chance he'd wind up at the Tigers
