Well there you go, it obviously didn't affect his performance last night but I wonder if it affected his team mates.

I don't mind seeing the start of the Geelong decline I just don't want the Pies to step into the vacant position as the dominant side.

hate to say it chuck but a win this weekend for the Pies will open up a can of worms none of us want and thats a Collingwood Dynasty.

Didak, Thomas, Pendlebury, Wellingham, Cloke, Beams, Dawes, Swan. Most under 25 except for a few..Scary!!

The question you have to ask yourself is who will challenge them in the next 2 years???
IMO and i hope im wrong but i believe they have very few teams to compete with for the flag.

Geelong=Gone
Saints=Maybe but if they lose this they will be gone too
Buldogs-Window shut
Hawks-Maybe
Freo=maybe
Swans-Doubt it
Blues-No

The ones that will challenge in about 2/3 years are the Demons, Gypsy's and us. But thats 2 years for them to do some damage.

The Pies have timed this beautifully and i just hope that the Sainters can do it, although the thought of cheering for the guy who was "allegedly" charged sickens me in the guts. Putting up with Milney vrs putting up with the likes of Eddie, Harry o, Joffa etc etc well its no brainer, Milney smash those pricks.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Yes in the short-term if collingwood win this years and play well next year besides saints freo and hawks if they both step up. there may not be another big contender we'll just have to wait and see how teams go next year.

They said the same thing about a Hawthorn dynasty in 2008 and they had a far younger list than the Pies. The Pies have built a side around a core of Presti 32, Johnson 29, Davis 29, Jolly 28, Brown 28, Didak 27, Maxwell 27, Swan 26, Ball 26. That's almost half their side ignoring others in their late 20s like Fraser, Lockyer and Medhurst who have hardly played seniors this year. That's hardly a young side  ::). They've also been lucky with injury this year with 18 Pies playing 19 games or more. They've been able to keep basically the same side and especially key players on the park each week.

Individually the Pies have only a few top class players but they do have a gameplan with this forward press and high bench rotations that is well drilled into every single player and has caught out every opposition just as Clarkson and the Hawks did in 2008. If they win the flag this Saturday then it'll be Malthouse who deserves all the credit. Every coach of the other 16 clubs will spend this summer working out ways to counter it just as they did to the Hawks after 2008. Every year is a new year.

I do agree with daniel in the sense this year has been a very weak year with all but a couple of sides being mediocre. Whoever out of Collingwood and St Kilda wins the flag (more likely it'll be the Pies) will win it in a year with very little elite competition around to fight against for it.

Champion Data's AFL Prospectus predicting the Suns to win a flag and dominate the comp. within 5 years  :P

GOLD Coast is better placed for a sustained period of success than any of the previous five start-up AFL clubs, according to Champion Data's AFL Prospectus.

With an astonishing 27 players under 20 and another 12 between 20 and 24, the AFL's 17th side has taken the youth road to establishing itself as a power side.

While the sixth edition of the prospectus predicts a return of four wins in the Suns' debut season, the upside in the years after could see them become the fastest modern start-up side to win a flag.

Six months ago the Herald Sun forecast rival clubs' fears Gold Coast would be a superpower within four years, capable of winning multiple premierships.

Richmond football general manager Craig Cameron said the prospect was "frightening", saying "it certainly looks ugly for the rest of us".

Always was going to be the case. The AFL will do everything in its power to make sure it's two new babies are a success up north. Even if that means existing clubs miss out on a sponsor if reports are true  :scream

It could be scary, or it could be another Hawthorn.

After the Hawks won their flag, people were going on about guys like Thorp, Ellis, Dowler etc. waiting in the wings and how scary the Hawks depth was. Now they have none and have had to trade for guys like Hale and Burgoyne.

I think Swallow will be a win, but what happens if Bennell is a Tambling, Day is a Thorp, Gorringe a John Meeson, Tom Lynch a Koschitzke....

We just have to wait and see.

THE Gold Coast will become an AFL city in 2011 after a dramatic $60million funding pledge for a new stadium unveiled by the State Government.

For those interested here's a updated pic of the Carrara stadium as it looks now. The new main horseshoe grandstand is virtually built.

Did you snap that from your helicopter One-Eyed?

Vast improvement, although I always enjoyed the feel of attending games at Carrara - good to see they've kept the hill concourse, prefer grounds with an open end. Breeze is underrated.
