Lost to the Hawks by 4 pts = Essendon's season over .

A good result for us as we play them in round 22 and they'll be now thinking about their September holidays.

Why is James Hird involved in footy anymore? He took a bunch of kids and put them through the dodgiest drug program in the history of sport while ignoring medical advice and then fought tooth and nail til the bitter end in the courts.

If he'd had morals he'd have encouraged the dons to admit guilt. Everyone just dodged and evaded for years. Go away James, go do something else somewhere else.

I went tonight because I wanted to support the team.

I sat down in the Essendon members reserved seating and was surrounded by Richmond fans

Sometimes wet weather game can bring a poor team closer to a good team. And sometimes it can really expose the gulf between them.

We are garbage.

The coach is garbage

The senior players are garbage

Our board is garbage

Our football department is garbage

Our medical team is garbage

Little advice to those we like to come on here and act all high and mighty to the lid on crew. I wouldn’t be doing that tonight.

Watched about six minutes of the second quarter and turned it off.

Won’t watch another Essendon game this year, maybe ever. Just a useless, pathetic, weak club.

We should take class action against the club.

This playing group just don’t care enough.

We are now immune to this sort of disappointment. It doesn’t even faze me as much as it used too. Most of us expected this result tonight and some late cheap goals doesn’t change that feeling.

Richmond had 4 of their best not out there and we still couldn’t match them. 1 goal to Half Time. Pitiful.

There is no doubt our team is a bottom six side. Looking at the fixture for the rest of the year, I think we’ll only finish 8-14/9-13…something like that.

Richmond weren’t great at all - hence their panic with about 15mins left.

I can’t believe I actually turned off because they were so insipid. I have followed the club for 45 years but this getting hard to take. We are losing a generation of supporters.

16 straight seasons without a finals win. We are now into an entire generation of fans who have not seen us win a final.
