Rumour of Salary Cap Breaches
« on: September 14, 2004, 06:10:10 AM »
A rumour abuot salary cap breaches has been posted on PRE.
If the AFL gave the thumbs up the other day to the Tigers' finances surely this would have been given the okay as well.
I can't understand true Richmond supporters who supposedly have the club's interests at heart highlighting this to the media  ::)
Pretty disappointed.  But as Greg has refuted the rumours when interrogated  ;D, I'm sure we'll see glowing praise for the board on that site if and when these rumours are just that, rumours.  Okay, i won't hold my breath  ;)

You know, as much as I can't stand Clinton, i'm still looking for balance and accuracy so I can make an informed vote based on the true position of the club.  Clinton will never get my vote, but he is one person on a board and there are other people on the board who will be affected by all the propaganda, if it is propaganda.  I'm still not sure why Mickey and Welsh stood down and then have suddenly become interested.  Is this the hidden information everyone was so fearful of?  If this is it, did Mickey and Welsh go to the AFL with their concerns or they remained silent.  If there are breaches, they are just as guilty as anyone on the board at the time becuase they were there.  It's either that, or they knew the figures but can't add up if there has been no breach.  No winners here.

Bad girl froars moving this into another forum. :)
As a critic of Michael Pahoff I'll give him due praise on this one. He says he heard this rumour weeks ago but wouldn't post it. Actually requested it be removed from PRE now. He could have been opportunistic with it but has put the club first. Good on him.

Thanks WP. I'd only seen it on PRE and nobody was saying where they heard it. Thought it was probably a scurrilous rumour started there.

Apologies froars. I should have known you're not a bad girl. ;D :-[

For the third year in a row this rumour has been around. It's hardly original. After Carlton copped their whack from the AFL there were rumours the following year and the year after that about us being over the cap. The innuendo was "justified" by saying things like how can Richmond afford to recruit Johnson with Gas, Richo, Holland, Cambo, Otto already on big money. Ended up always being total garbage  ::).  Like you said froars the AFL would've had to have given the ok to our finances to give us the ok on our business plan going forward.
