Nathan Brown - 2009 expectations?
« on: February 18, 2009, 12:38:40 PM »
Browny has had probably his first full unaffected preseason since breaking his leg in 2005 albeit he is over 30 now.

What are we all expecting of him this year and what would be a good year by his standards?

Career at Richmond so far

2004:    20        23.4        4.7       2.0    26.28
2005:    10        20.2        6.0       1.0    34.19
2006:    10        12.1        5.3       0.9    11.17
2007:    11        15.8        6.4       1.9    21.14

Nathan will play every game barring injury.

35-50 goals would be good return for him.

Like the great Dennis Lillie....has lost a yard of pace but still has all the tricks.

I would also like to hear more Batman and Robin analogies when he combines with Richo to kick a goal.

he looks to me as though his heart is no longer in it,
which suggests the incentive is .... $$$.

I would be happy with stats as per last year with goals as per Mat suggested.  Still has that certain mercurialness which makes him a very dangerous forward.

he looks to me as though his heart is no longer in it,
which suggests the incentive is .... $$$.

I don't have a thought on it either way, but is this a problem as long as he still performs?

Gee I think that is abit harsh.
I went to the game on Sunday and after the final siren when the players were leaving the field...Nathan Brown was the ONLY Richmond player to come over and high five the crowd.....And he looked absolutely Knacked.
Didn't seem like the actions of a mercenary to me.

Could be wrong.

I suppose it doesn't matter if he still performs - 3-4 goals a week.

The advantage of him giving a stuff definitely has a positive spin to it tho....

66-88 goals for the year? Gee, you don't ask much

If he can play like he did againt Freo every week in 2009 then he'll be AA and have one of his best seasons ever. Let's hope he can.

He can get to 60 goals. I agree with []())([].

Up until early last year and the Collingwood game in particular where he would have been close to getting dropped had he not been one of Terry's untouchables all we heard was he is still recovering from his broken leg and complications as such. Now he has had another pre seson under his belt and is in peak fitness and with the strength we had in the midfield nothing suggests why Brown if played in the fwd line as a small crumbing forward as he was at the Dogs cannot kick 60+ goals. Needs to take more overhead marks and have better second efforts when it comes to ground after o/head mark attempts rather than just the flashiness he has when he is on the lead or the ball is already on the ground.

Looked a little short of a gallop to me the other night despite the goals.

I have been a massive fan but something inside suggests to me he's going to find things harder in '09 as he starts to slow down.

40 goals would be a v good result.
