Richmond will welcome back a host of senior players for this Friday night’s NAB Challenge match against Brisbane on the Gold Coast.

The Tigers rested many of its stars for last week’s match in Shepparton, giving the fans and coaching staff a chance to see the Club’s developing players at the highest level.

How did that side go against the other and can we deduce by the squad that Browne & Graham may be playing for the number two ruck spot ????

What more does Polo have to do to get a game?  ???

Raines and possibly Jacko are both keeping Polo out of the side. Polo was used as a small defender on Morton today.

I'll talk about the first question in the training thread otherwise I won't have anything to write about lol but yep pmac I would say Browne has impressed the coaching staff and has moved himself up into our 3rd ruck option just behind Gus. Browne being a big burly boy  ;D already is virtually ready made as far as size. Gus probably still ahead as far as around the ground stuff.

thats what fu.ckin sh.its me about our club

you get someone like Polo who IMO has NOT put a foot wrong, and then you have fools like Tambling and Raines doing the dance out there on the field.

Another great decision :clapping

the only positive i see in tat lot is NO Adam Pattison and Sugar. What a relief!!

have to agree with others regarding Polo - bewildering

I mean there a couple of others who haven't actually set the world on fire as they say (read Bowden & McMahon as 2) but they are in the squad for this game

I am perplexed  :-\ :help

Cousins is playing? ... interesting ...

Polo, Post, Nahas ... should be in ...

i would rest Richardson ... we know he can play ... he doesn't need to prove that or have any match fitness!

They were saying in one of the papers up here a few days ago that they were hoping Cousins would come up as they think it will attract more crowd, thereby helping promote the AFL and GC17.

Guys,

No matter how hyped up this game is remember it's a practice match. Please wait until the squads are released for round one before jumping off the deep end.

Does anyone honestly think that the selection committee has made up their mind about the make up of the round one team? Sure they probably have a fair idea about who they will select but seriously, do you actually think the team we are looking at for the game against Brisbane is the final team for round one?

Fact is, we don't know who's going to play against Carlton. I would suggest we all sit back and look at the reports, or watch if you are lucky enough, the practice match against Brisbane and enjoy it for what it is, a practice match.

With no Cotch, Cogs, Johnson, Cleve or Patto (no matter what we think of the latter few), the team for round 1 is a bit more certain than it would've been if those guys were available. Perhaps Polo and Thomson are still in the running despite not being picked for tomorrow night but that squad of 24 won't be too far off making up the final 22 in two weeks time for mine.

While a win leading into round 1 would be good for confidence I'm just hoping we get through tomorrow night with no more injuries. Hopefully the Carrara surface is decent to play on.

Polo is a confidence player and should be in the first team, practice match or not in order to instill confidence in his psyche.

Tambling as long as Wallace is coach will get a free ride to complement Terry's justification in taking him at pick 4. Will not develop into anything greater unless he is made to earn his spot. Then and only then we will be able to determine whether he has the capacity to improve greatly. Personally I doubt it but will be happy to be proved wrong at seasons end. If proved right ship him off to GC17.

Raines has been handy so for in the pre season but is too one dimensional as was the case in 2007 and was caught out after other clubs had done their homework on him after his 2nd place in the Rising Star in 2006.

Patto has fallen down the pecking order and it is seems Angus will be the second ruckman as long as he stays injury free.

Yes I know it is early but I won't be a happy camper if Polo is not in the 22 come round 1 selection. I'm a big fan and he adds hardness toughness and an ability to win the ball. Wallace needs to put the best 22 out and Polo is in that best 22.
