Plough's out of contract at the end of the season so no need to sack him.

Depends on what the board have in mind.

If they are hellbent on Campbell with Sheeds steering him then the sooner the better. Just make Ploughs termination 'mutual' and cast Campbell as the caretaker coach. You find out if Campbell's up to the task.
There's probably going to be a clear out of players at season's end too and I think getting a new coach and showing we are fair dinkum about not accepting mediocrity will spur the better characters on to play for their careers.

Never had any noticeable effect when we've booted coaches out in the past
If the same players can play dead now, they can do it when it suits them in the future.
This is Richmond.  I'll believe that when I see it

Getting rid of terry this early in the season is not the answer, we do need to make changes, drop all the guys who are underperforming, and give others a go. Wayne Campbell might well be a future RFC coach, but not yet. Hes not ready, and the there is no job like the richmond job. can be a  career graveyard  :lol

Tony Jewell and Barry Richardson lend support to Terry Wallace (Herald-Sun)

Tony Jewell and Barry Richardson lend support to Terry Wallace
Sam Edmund | April 14, 2009 09:10pm

TWO sacked Richmond coaches have called on the Tigers to resist dumping Terry Wallace if their losing streak continues. Tony Jewell and Barry Richardson said sacking Wallace mid-year would achieve nothing and risked throwing Punt Rd into further disarray.

But they predicted Wallace would be hit with a barrage of almost unbearable scrutiny if Richmond lost to Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

"This week will tell us. If Melbourne get away from them all hell will break loose," Jewell said.

"There will be some fierce pressure come to bear from all angles. The press, the supporters, we've had truckloads of s . . t dumped on our doorstep."

Jewell, who was ruthlessly sacked a year after steering the Tigers to the 1980 premiership, conceded Wallace's future may be out of his hands.

"Traditionally, if the supporters scream loud enough the board has knee-jerk reactions to it," he said. "The players are all aware of what's going on and that makes the job twice as hard. They know you're on the skids.

"Even his own support staff, they know if Terry goes they're gone too, so you get coaches in survival mode . . . everyone is thinking about their own future.

"They can turn it around like they did last year, but if it continues like it is (Wallace) is dead in the water."

Richardson, who played in three Tiger premierships before coaching the club for two years, was adamant Wallace should be allowed to see the year out.

He said the blame should be equally shared by the players.

"I certainly don't believe in sacking coaches mid-season. I think it's a bad strategy and very seldom does it work," Richardson said.

"I tend to look at things like recruiting and drafting and those things rather than pointing at the coach all the time."

Agree with you 100% Barry but heh what would you know, you're only a premiership player? I said the same thing and I get howled down...

ill tell you one club it worked for, the blues!!!

getting rid of Pagon after the Lions game was a masterstroke and they will win a flag before us, you can pretty much put your house on it.

every tiger fan loves and respects matty richardson, on radio yesterday he made it quite clear the players support and want terry. he told all the media to back off. thats goes to all the pretend rfc fans who dont really "support" our team also.

if all you pricks dont support our club 100% then pee off, it is times like this that the club needs us all to stick together and get tighter, not fall apart.  it is not the club that fails, they are trying, the biggest failures at the rfc are their "pretend" supporters who have hidden agendas and dont want us to be stable but fall apart.

we have coaching staff, team lists and club administrators..........support them all and show the world we are ar united team or stuff off

The blues have done nothing yet apart from win a couple of NAB cups.

You can hardly give the credit to Ratten for any success they have in the next few years, their woeful season form in years gone by and the resulting draft picks are the reason for any success they have in the next five years.

In fact even their drafting is not tip top from memory, apart from their obvious no brainers first round draft picks they have had a few duds in there drafting.

I can see one positives in sacking Wallace and one positive in keeping him.
 In order:
(Sacking) give someone like Campbell a go to se if he can coach under Sheedy's help, if not look eles were at seasons end.
(Keeping) This would send a message that the Tigers will honour the coaching contract, so the likes of Hardwick Matthews or Chocco might consider taking on the job.
I favour keeping i think it is a hard one!!
I think that if we keep the coach we need to look more at our skills coach if we have not got one GET ONE NOW. If we have one sack him striaght away and get another.
I also think we need to keep our game plan simple forget flooding and all that crap. Long kick man on man for four quarters, down the middle no side kicks less handballs. We have not got the skills to be fancy we need to play on passion man on man and win games the hard way.At least we will see who we really should keep and who not too.
