Patto should have played today, we just didn't have anyone to compete today and you just knew fropm the rebounded after the stacking our forward line we were in trouble.

I watched JON today and our forward just wouldn't lead for him, it was sad, they stood still and as Brisbane had stacked our small forward line it was like trying to thread a needle in a haystack. He had a real go I thought but was scared to make a blue. Voss played man on man when we had the ball and rebound football to a forward line that had some big guns. Why dont we play man on man.
A few times when Gus was resting up forward and created a contest we looked like kicking a goal.

Apart from Cotch it doesn't really matter who comes in or who goes out.

Our list needs quality forwards and a qulaity midfielder.

All we have in the wings are players with disposal worse than the current teams or young kids not yet AFL players.

Ins: Cotchin, Brown, Thompson, Hughes (not that he deserves it. Actually would consider Polak)

Reiwoldt - shocking. Didn't anyone else see that Luke Power mark? Have a close look at the tape. Jack took his eyes off the ball, looked at Power and then ended up not evening going for the mark, he just braced for being hit.... exceptionally disappointing

Schulz - I have defended him ad-nauseum for 3 years now. He lost me yesterday.

Bowden - racked up 30+ meaningless possessions and gifted the lions 2 goals in the 2nd that turned the game. I've had enough. He is a senior player that although he doesn't have an official title is deemed a leader by experience.... do I need to say more

Jack - My theory is this

I want to see kids being given a proper go, not a week here , 2 or 3 games there. I want them to play for an extended period to see if they have got anything to offer.. everyone keeps telling the season is over, shot to bits so what difference is it really going to matter.

It's time to give as many blokes under the age of 22 a go to see whether they are worth keeping... simple really.

We've given some 5-6 years to show us something I think some of the younger ones (Edwards is only 20 and JON just turned 21) deserve to given a chance

My opinion is this.
Neither JON or Edwards has shown any impact worthy to be kept on the list. Edwards is too easily push off the ballance keeps falling over, not a good sign.
JON can get the ball but has 2 HUGE problems, one he doesnt know what to do with it, and when he does decide to kick, he cant. His kicking is poor.
JON was a first round pick, I cannot beleive why   On earth did we pick up him, his handball yesterday in the 3rd quarter that missed the target by metres was disgraceful, suburban footy stuff.

My theory is this

You play all the players that havent played a game or played only a handfull.
eg. Putt, Browne,, Gilligan, Gouridis,Post and Vickery. play them if there ready or not, Matty Knights has  done it with his Eseendon young players

Throw in Connors and Thursfield and then asses from there.
Playing JON ,Schulz and Edwards is a complete waste of time
Likewise King  Pettifer, and Hughes.  dont get me started on Cleve either, a complete waste of time.

Your theory is slightly shot because at the moment neither Browne, Gourdis or Gilligan are eligible to play as they are rookies and unless we put Richo on the long term injury list there aint no spot for any of them until atl east round 11 when we can start playing a rookie without a long term injury

I am actually happy to give all fo the ones you've listed a go (apart from Connors who needs to get his head right) but I want to see them there for longer than a week

And BTW if that was to happen what I dont' want to see is for everyone on this forum to bag them after one game like we have done with so many others over the years..

I have no problem giving young players opportunites.
I was pushing for Angus last year.
If they are keen, they will show something.
I will bag players that  have been given the opportunity and found wanting , go back to Coburg kick a few goals , come back to Richmond, and dish out the same garbage they did before. Eg Schulz, Edwards. King., JON etc etc

This is where we are going to have to agree to disagree again but I don't think 12 games in 3 years is giving a player an real and proper opportunity.

12 games straight that's giving a bloke an opportunity or to put it another way look at Reiwoldt, his form IMHO has been lousy in the last month with the expection of the North game but he is still there that's what I call being given an opportunity
