It pains me to say this, but our club is rooted, the club seems to be inflicted with some disease that it cant irradicate. The cancer has been there a long time, but as members and supporters, it is our duty to save our Club and to lift it.
IMHO the football model and even the business management model of Richmond is broken. Completely broken and its so bad, that band aid jobs wont fix it, we treat the sympton but we cant find the cause, and if you cant find the cause then you cant fix anything. Now im no management expert, but I know this, in the last 25 years we havent been able to attract a high number of the very talented people to our club, I remember looking at the Herald Sun, taking the pee out of us, with pictures of potential coaches crossed out- not because we didnt want them, but because they didnt us. I cant see how we can move forward like this.
The only suggestion I can make is this, Steve Wright and his board need to sit down, infront of a white board and create a new football club, they should hypothesise how they would start a new club, what positions are needed, how many personel, who should come to this club and how? how much money is needed, they should determine a club philosophy, and imagine themselves as being pioneers of a new club. And after they have formulated there new club, they should move to install this plan as the plan for Richmond going forward.
Richmond has been wrecked and it is so bad, unless everything changes, EVERYTHING, then we cant move forward. Richmond needs to become a new idea, based on sound principles of action and philosophy. A new culture needs to be bread. There can be no sacred cows - from admin to players, whoever doesnt fit should be terminated and moved on.
End of rant
