It's because it has the word a-rse in it, which is a little strange as ass isn't covered in the swear filter

I figured as much. Its stuffen stupid!
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Newman and Foley - wtf!

LMAO

"If you're not 110% for the club you won't be here long". "

Hate wankers who use that analogy.

At that level it shows a lack of education and ability to set realistic goals.

Brett Deledio the toast of Tigerland
Sam Edmund From: Herald Sun September 17, 2009

EXCITING Richmond midfielder Brett Deledio stormed home to win his second consecutive Jack Dyer Medal in a history-making count last night.

Deledio, still only 22, became the youngest Tiger to win back-to-back best-and-fairest awards since club legend Kevin Bartlett saluted in 1967-68 and the youngest in the AFL since Michael Voss at the Brisbane Lions in 1995-96.

The former No. 1 draft pick polled 190 votes to edge out stopper Daniel Jackson (175) and skipper Chris Newman (162) in a thrilling finish at the Crown Palladium.

Richard Tambling's best season saw him rewarded with 152 votes and fourth place, while Ben Cousins (145) rounded out the top five, despite missing seven games through injury.

In an absorbing count, vice-captain Nathan Foley had the lead after 11 rounds, but quickly faded to finish sixth after missing the last eight weeks of the season with a severe calf problem.

Jackson then took over at the top, but couldn't hang on as Deledio's brilliant second half of the year saw him take the lead after the second-last game of the year against Hawthorn.

Deledio played all 22 matches this season, averaging 24.2 disposals and five marks a game, while leading the Tigers in total disposals (533) and inside-50s (99).

He had 20 or more possessions 19 times, highlighted by a career-high 36 touches against the Hawks in Round 21.

Deledio also kicked 20 goals - the fourth most at the club.

It was the first time Jackson and Tambling had achieved top-10 finishes in the best-and-fairest.

Energetic goalsneak Robin Nahas was voted best first-year player, Luke McGuane won the Francis Bourke award as most courageous player and Jackson was also judged most improved player.

Deledio is cooking after a bake
Jesse Hogan | September 17, 2009

A FIERCE mid-season bake from his coach and leadership group teammates provided the tonic for Richmond's Brett Deledio to claim a second successive Jack Dyer Medal.

The 22-year-old's come-from-behind victory - he only overhauled teammate Daniel Jackson in round 21 - has made him the youngest player to win back-to-back club best-and-fairest awards since Brisbane's Michael Voss in 1995-96. He is the youngest Tiger to achieve the feat since Kevin Bartlett in 1967-68.

Former Tigers caretaker coach Jade Rawlings and the other three members of the club's leadership group confronted fellow leader Deledio after the round-13 loss to St Kilda about his lack of accountability on the ground. By the following Tuesday night it was decided he would be dropped, but selectors decided to give the No. 1 draft pick of 2004 one more chance.

For the rest of the year Deledio averaged almost 27 possessions a match - with a much greater emphasis on hard-ball gets - and kicked 11 goals, enough for him to win the award with 190 votes.

''I was just going out there and playing my own game because that is what you grow up doing - just run around by yourself pretty much - so it is being aware where my opponent is all the time and trying to stop them getting possessions,'' Deledio said of his new philosophy after his starring performance against Carlton in round 15.

Runner-up Jackson, 23, received 175 votes and was also named the Tigers' most-improved player for 2009.

President Gary March confirmed that Ben Cousins had signed a contract extension for next season.

Dick Smith will continue as a major sponsor for the Tigers for 2010.

RICHMOND BEST & FAIREST

Brett Deledio 190

Daniel Jackson 175

Chris Newman 162

Richard Tambling 152

Dean Polo 118

Mitch Morton 115

BEST FIRST-YEAR PLAYER: Robin Nahas

FRANCIS BOURKE AWARD: Luke McGuane

LEADING GOALKICKER: Mitch Morton

MOST IMPROVED: Daniel Jackson

mt, before the start of this season, I asked your perspective on our pre season and the quality of training compared to prior years. Your comment was something along the lines of "we tend to practise drills but if they are not perfected then move onto the next drill" or something like that. The most important thing hardwick said was that the summer wil be "rehebehind, rehebehind, rehebehind". He then mentioned no more short cuts. If he backs up that statement, I'll be happy. Look forward to your review of summer training in march 2010
lol silly swear filter.

Yep Y&B let's hope so. I hope to also hear quick ball movement, quick decisive decision making, spreading in space, 1%ers, tackling, blocking, shepherding and elite skills  :pray.

I thought March was a bit over the top with the whole "if you're not 110% for the club you won't be here long". We all know it was a crap year so maybe he could've left that for the another more private forum.

Wayne Campbell, very impressive on the stage tonight. Spoke better than the coach.

Please get rid of the MC, he is an annoying prat. The way he kept pronouncing "Brett Deluuuudio" made the night about him instead of the players and the club. Like some of those umpires.

.

You sound surprised that Wayne Campbell is a good speaker? ::)
And who was the MC?

Craig Willis was the MC

In answer to question a few pages back

Rawlings was there sitting on the same table as Wayne Campbell

Wallace obviously was not

Brown NG spoke on behalf of the four older players going = Bowden, Cogs, Pettifer (great ot see Petts there with his Mum after their recent family loss). Spoke exceptionally well. I wont bother going into details because I don't want this thread into a spiral into a bashing NG Brown thread when it is about the B&F

Caught up with a number of players general feedback from the ones I spoke to is bring on 2010

The other thing that Hardwick said was that the team is not as bad as its results or ladder position of 2009 and that one of the biggest things missing is "self belief" and the job of instilling self belief and more importantly a TEAM FIRST attitude had commenced and will not stop

People put Campbell & Bowden down for winning B&F in poor sides & era ;D
So l expect Deledio winning the B&F to get the same from the bashers after the season he produced which l rated him poorly & is certainly not B&F material this year
Its laughable he was on the verge of being dropped because of consistant poor games
Frankly l'm very suprised he won the B&F cause Jackson surely was the more consistant player
Judgeing off our B&F l see a bleak few years

''I was just going out there and playing my own game because that is what you grow up doing - just run around by yourself pretty much - so it is being aware where my opponent is all the time and trying to stop them getting possessions,'' Deledio said of his new philosophy after his starring performance against Carlton in round 15.

I think this is the case with almost all our players. Too worried about themselves and not about the team. What great courage to come out and admit that and even better that he actually did something about it.

I vote Lids for captain.  :thumbsup

Can I just give a little whack?

Firstly let me say this isn't having a go at AstuteTiger but I am curious to know how the winners were known at and the result posted at 10.33pm when the actual "countdown" didn't finish until around 10.38  ;D

Here's why I ask: I was sitting in the Palladium and had someone typing the SMS to Mr One-Eyed as the top five was being announced, we knew as soon as Jackson got called as the 2nd placegetter that Lids was the winnner so we got that typed as they said how many votes lids got in round 22 which meant we pressed "send" button at 10.38pm which is when it was announced to the audience

Was the info on the RFC web-site before it was announced to the people actually at the function?

Call me a sook but I paid $190 and I reckon everyone in that room should have known the winners first ....

But seeing there was that stuff up with the Swans B&F last week when Lyon announced hours before the actual event I am wondering if perhaps this "live" stuff is another Telstra web-site stuff up

Oh well

It was an Age stuff up.

They released their articles for today at about 10PM last night online, thus people found the article that was meant for tomorrows paper with the result attached and the leak came from there.

I know all media outlets are advised of the outcome of the night several hours before hand, and have an embargo on it.

Slow news day at the Hun:

WAGS steal show at Tigerland
By Fiona Byrne, Alice Coster and Katherine Firkin
Richmond Football Club best and fairest
WEDNESDAY @ CROWN PALLADIUM

THE yellow and black army were out in force on Wednesday night for the Richmond Football Club's best and fairest dinner at Crown.

The Tiger boys looked razor sharp in their slick suits, but, as usual, they were outshone by their glamorous other halves, who dazzled in gorgeous gowns.

Leading the pack was Alyce Oksuz, fiancee of Graham Polak, who looked stunning in a short black, strapless number, while Katie Bowden (Joel Bowden) and Katie Chivers (Brett Deledio) also turned heads in sexy frocks. Delisted Tiger Nathan Brown was one of only a few boys to turn
up solo.
