The only mention we got on Footy Classified last night was about Cotch playing more aggressively lately.

I don't get the stick chimp cops,  ... at the end of the day he is  1 /  22 , fact

Even his worse is still pretty handy

If you look at this third 1/4 about a month ago, that's border line superhuman. One cannot expect that weekly and be reasonable. If so, he be a long way ahead rance ,fyfe , on those metrics

Two post above it says he's 8th bat, according to coaches. Plus he poos on priddis, beams , gaff, armiage ...

I happy to admit -/ Kennedy a gun, Goldstein a gun,  penders not bad,  fyfe, decent
Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

His misses are costly, like it is for every other player that missed on Saturday and to lose by two points proves how costly it is. I don't think it's unfair to expect better kicking from our captain. We don't expect him to nail every shot but as stated he missed a fairly easy snap and missed EVERYTHING on a fairly easy set shot. If he hit one of those it may be a different story, but its just a recurring theme every week. Everyone is getting criticism and the captain is not above getting some as well.

Trent....you must start kicking goals mate, this is the only thing letting you down!!! Captains and midfielders need to kick goals, particularly when you have as many shots as you do.

Gee that was way back then..... :o

Wonder how many of people jumping on Cotchin for supposedly costing us matches with his poor goalkicking at the same time regard Richo as a sacred cow above any criticism? Just sayin'....

His intensity and ferociousness at the contest this season has gone to another level - got a bit of mongrel in his game now - love it leads by example (just sharpen up the kicking for goal cap!)

The media are now in full praise of Cotch as our captain after bagging him in recent years. Carey tonight said Cotchin has gone from being an accumulator to being a real leader, a matchwinner and a captain with a team focus. Over the past two months, Cotch hasn't been afraid to thrown his weight around within the rules to stamp himself on the game.

Cotch is also back to equal-8th in the coaches' votes:

AFLCA Player of the Year leaderboard

100 - Nat Fyfe (Fremantle)
85 - Dan Hannebery (Sydney Swans)
65 - Todd Goldstein (North Melbourne)
65 - Matt Priddis (West Coast)
60 - Andrew Gaff (West Coast)
56 - David Mundy (Fremantle)
55 - Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood)
53 - David Armitage (St Kilda)
53 - Trent Cotchin (Richmond)
53 - Josh Kennedy (Sydney Swans)

Best player I've ever seen pull on the jumper for the Tiges, and Friday night, I felt, was in his top 5 ever performances.

It's funny, some still question his leadership on a weekly basis. But mostly when we lose.  :wallywink

Cotch stood out at junior level as well. I watched him a few times in the U18s and he was a class above his peers even back then. Thankfully Carlton went for Kreuzer ahead of us and we finally had learnt to not to get sucked into drafting anymore flashy outside flankers. Cale Morton was seen as a top 4 pick leading to the 2007 National Draft and had also been linked to us  :help

Yep, best player to pull on a Tiger jumper in the AFL era. My top 5 in the AFL era would be Cotch, Knights, Richo, Lids & Rance.
