On next!

* Ben Cousins told to take it easy because of his lack of footy. Super competitive person, wants to do everything flat out.

* AFL level training higher than WAFL or VFL.

* In his 25 years, Royal had never seen anything like the frenzy when Cousins was drafted. They were expecting it though.

* The testing hasn't disrupted anything.

* Cogs going extremely well. Will be like a new recruit. He's a ball magnet no trouble finding it, just leg speed and strength will be down.

* Ben was involved in the induction, talking about the glory days of the Eagles, has mixed in fantastically.

* The oldies are going really well. Remote training program, can train in their own hours to freshen them up.

* Rance and Collins - Both going well, McCrae and Rawlings great development coaches. Starting to get great depth.

* Royal used to play with Murray Rance. Has known Alex since a baby.

* How much improvent needed to get into the 8. Logically we have to improve, if we don't the coaching staff haven't done their job. We have a strong list, most guys are on the park.

* NAB cup side, mix of old and new players. Manage players time on ground. Richo may play round 1, but miss round 2.

* Carlton game Round 1 now a tradition. Tough opening 3 games, important to get off to a strong start.

* Membership - Cousins has contributed, lots of support from the West. Die hard Richmond supporters would be getting on board due to strong finish to the season.

And you may not think I care for you

Cheers wayne. Thanks for that  :cheers.

Sounds like we'll take the Freo game fairly seriously to help the club generate some momentum (re: memberships) going into the real stuff but after that it will be a player management thing making sure every one if right and ready to go for round 1.

Still no journo askes about Cotch  :-\.

That'll be the test for Cogs. Last year in the VFL he had no trouble getting his hands on the footy at centre bounces and stoppages but he lacked the leg speed to stay involved in the game once the ball was free.

Yep.  I remember Carlton knocking back a young kid from their zone because he was deemed too slow for the game at the top level.  He found his way to Geelong, then the Swans, then finally to Carlton after they finally realised there is no substitute for a football brain.  Pretty handy footballer Greg Williams turned out to be, even though he was described as slow for his whole career.

IIRC I think Axel and Sam Mitchell were also considered too slow when they were 17 and overlooked.

Hopefully what Wallace said about Cogs regaining his power in his legs is correct. A massive bonus if Cogs can be added to our midfield. We'll know for sure once the practice and NAB Cup games start.
