Who should Dimma and you lot make skipper this time around
Then he grabbed two chopsticks and stuck them in his mouth , pretending to be a walrus

How does your club's captain rate?

Herald-Sun
15 April 2016

A ‘GOOD’ captain is a winning captain. It’s that simple.

Trent Cotchin bashing is almost a sport in itself when Richmond is riding a slump.

But Champion Data rankings points show Cotchin is performing better than captains of four top eight teams.

Cotchin is among seven captains rated “above average” after three rounds with strong numbers in disposals, contested possessions and clearances.

RICHMOND

Trent Cotchin

Games played: 3

Overall rating: Above Average

Much-maligned for his leadership style but certainly setting the example on the field. Rated above for average disposals, contested possessions and clearances, but below average for goals.

Top Tiger’s wife: ‘We are still proud of you’

Herald-Sun
17 April 2106

TRENT Cotchin’s wife has launched an emotional defence of her husband on social media after the Tigers’ third loss of the season.

As Cotchin and his teammates were left reeling after their 68-point loss to West Coast in Perth last night, Brooke Cotchin posted a supportive message on her Instagram account admitting the recent criticism of the Richmond captain had been difficult to deal with.

“Every week you go out and give your all. To have to listen to the constant criticism you have had to put up with especially of late has been incredibly hard,” she wrote.

“Those closest to you know just how dedicated you are to your football club and teammates on and off the field.

“As a wise man once told me ‘People’s opinions are none of our business’.

“We love you and are proud of you”.

It’s not the first time she has felt the need to support the Richmond captain.

Before Round 1 she posted a photo with the caption: “There will always be critics and there will always be someone trying to make a story out of nothing ... Let the haters hate because there isn’t many people like you out there!”

Cotchin said responsibility for the Tigers’ poor start to the season rests with him and the playing group, not coach Damien Hardwick.

“…I get frustrated by the way people throw ‘Dimma’ under the bus,” Cotchin told Triple M radio.

“The reality is, I feel as though our planning going into games is as good as it’s ever been, we’re well prepared but at this stage, it’s the playing group that are probably letting down the coaching staff.

“That’s the challenge for myself as a leader and our other leaders that are playing at the moment, as well as they guys that aren’t.

“We need pressure from below and we need to start to execute because the reality is if you don’t play good foot consistently and start winning games, then obviously pressure continues to mount.”

Cotchin said the team needed to execute coach’s instruction better.

“We’ve got some guys really down on confidence so how do we instil that, what does it look like and how do we get guys back to playing confident Richmond footy at a consistent level,” Cotchin said.

So basically she just let the world know it IS getting to him, which means the attacks won't stop because people like to see achievers fall.

Thanks Brooke!

Tried his guts out against the Eagles particularly in the third quarter but unfortunately his disposal let him down. One of the few midfielders on Friday who stood up.

At least she gives a crap
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

One has to ask themselves, what takes more "guts". Sitting behind a computer screen and anonymously critiquing the captain and his wife, or going out and publicly supporting your partner.

I know who's camp I'm in....

turn it up Richo stop being a pussy.

ox went over board but we all get the jist of what he meant.

Cotch isnt a bad bloke, but he is not a good leader(along with many of his mates) and he cant kick for poo, so if that offends her well stuff her.

We must be the only club who has their misses go into bat for the captain. If it was mine i would be ropeable as its now going to create more headaches for the guy with opposition clubs.

Are you talking to me?

You sounds a bit precious

Half te melbourne media is bagging chimp for not being demonstrative, ruthless enough.

His other half doing cry isn't going to help

Cannot have your cake and eat it

I'm a staunch Cotchin supporter - yet his misses piping up is laughable
