His weight loss does worry me a bit actually, if he is going to play across CHF and be a moving target more regularly than he has been it may be ok. But if he is forced to compete one on one he will struggle like he did a couple of years ago. He used to get out positioned/muscled because of his slender frame, when he bulked up he could really stand his ground and win the duels. I wonder now how he would go against Gibson one on one for example... :-\

Sounds like rubbish as it's a stack of weight to lose especially for a footballer but 3aw's 'Rumour File' was claiming Jack had lost 7kg since last season.

He should've put on 7 kilos of muscle instead of losing 7. He'd outmuscle anyone that way and just leave him forward

Don't know about now, but early in his career the club saw him ultimately as a fwd that would float between the FF and CHF, smart player that could exploit that space. He then evolved into a gun FF -  I wonder if now with Mcbean, Griff, Vick maturing and almost being physically ready to have a crack at holding down the 2 key fwd posts, that they are looking to play him in that type of role?  My sister in law saw him down at brighton recently and said she couldn't believe how slim he looked

Slimline Jack burns up the track
afl.com.au
January 17, 2014 1:25 PM

A slimmer Jack Riewoldt has boosted his running capacity as he looks to reach full fitness ahead of the Club’s pre-season campaign.

The 25-year-old has trimmed from his normal mid-90kgs playing weight, and is keeping up with some of the club's best-running talls on the track.

Riewoldt has been diligent in his rehabilitation from minor knee and hip surgery and looked strong in Friday's post-training running session.

Coach Damien Hardwick has already spoken of a desire to play Riewoldt further up the ground as a "traditional centre half-forward", which will be helped by the spearhead's improved fitness.

"I think he's had a real focus on what he's eating and also his training," captain Trent Cotchin said after the hit-out.

"He hasn't missed a beat with his rehab program and now he's joining into training.

"He looks fit, he's running with some of our better bigger blokes with their running capacity, so it's exciting - we'll just have to wait and see how he plays."

Well he won't be getting a game with the Demons :shh
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

#January premiers.  He's keeping up with some of the clubs best running talls. Assberry is one of those.

So he was 94kg. And they've decided he should lose weight.

Hopefully he finds some leg speed so he can get a break on the lead. Won't be winning and wrestles at 90kg.
