Hard for Lynch and Reiwoldt to operate cleanly right now. The team as a whole is not performing to the required level. This is causing pressure all around the ground and the delivery into the forward 50 is rushed and not to the forwards advantage.

Lynch can do better but he is not alone in that regard

Free kicks aside, Lynch had plenty of opportunities to impose himself on the weekend, but he was completely towelled by McKay.

He never gets any separation on his man because he's slow AF, so if his hands aren't sticky, then really he's just a 'bring it to ground' guy.

He's not a spud by any stretch, but personally I was hoping for more from a very highly paid CHF.

Absolutely. I wanted 2019 to be his standard at that price.

He's hardly worth half what he's being paid IMO.

Slow, shocking at ground level and also unreliable for the 'easy' shots.

'We're all big boys': Dimma defends firing back at Brown

Damian Hardwick says its his job to defend his players from media criticism

By AAP
11 August 2021

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick is adamant he'll continue to go in to bat for his players amid queries over whether he gets too personal when publicly defending his charges.

Hardwick has received criticism after taking umbrage to Fox Footy commentator Jonathan Brown's suggestion out-of-form forward Tom Lynch be moved up the ground during Saturday's win over North Melbourne.

In his post-match press conference, Hardwick suggested Brisbane great Brown consider "putting his hand up to coach" as it was "easy to sit there and make judgement calls".

Hardwick previously had a crack at David Schwarz in August 2020 over comments the former Demons forward made about Lynch, while he criticised Sydney counterpart John Longmire's defensive set-up after a game against Swans last July - though he later conceded the latter comments were out of line.

Hardwick on Wednesday emphasised that backing his players was a key part of his job.

"Not really my concern. My job is to support my players, end of story," Hardwick said.

"If people get sensitive to it then part and parcel of the job as far as I'm concerned.

"We're all big boys, I'm sure Jonno Brown's OK with it.

"He'll call me a d***head the next time he sees me and I'll probably call him one as well - so we move on pretty quickly."

100%, well said Dimma.

these blokes go around saying what they like, but dont know how to deal with it when they cop it back.

Remember Jabba a few years back said Buckley's life is not fulfilled if he doesnt win a flag, or words close to that. Jabba is one example of the many flogs in the media who deserve everything they get.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

I think big Johno Brown hasn’t got any issues with Hardwick.
I agree with you about Robbo it’s a wonder hes actually got a job in the media. Worst journalist in the league

Where is he BTW?

Haven't had to put up with his constant flip, flopping opinions for weeks now

Its an odd one, they have kept pretty quiet on him being away.

Have heard he was pretty sick but not sure with what.

They made mention of him being at home recovering on the couch one night this week, who knows

Another example of what Dimma was talking about.

Clear chopping of Lynch's arm not paid a free  ::).

Tom Lynch's deal after crossing from Gold Coast to Richmond as a free agent is backended, meaning he will start to enter the highest-paid years of his seven-season commitment from 2022.

Barrett said he's been critical of Hardwick in the past (Schwarz comments) but he backed Dimma on this.

Barrett added it was part of the 'us against them' mentality Dimma has used this year. Dimma in the previous 4 years that delivered 3 flags knew he could back his team to get the job done. This year he doesn't know what he will get from the team when they run down the race. So he's trying to galvanise the team and individual players (eg: Lynch) leading into a massive clash with finals on the line.
