RT's report on BF from today. A guide to possibly our current best 18?

--------------------------------
Just got back from todays session which was a full scale practice match. The teams seemed to be a best available 18 versus the rest plus some Coburg players. The yellow team was:

B: Edwards Post Rance
HB: Newman Moore Tambling
C: McMahon Deledio Cousins
HF: Hislop Riewoldt Taylor
F: Morton Polak Polo
R: Graham Thomson Martin
Note: Graham Browne Vickery rotated through the ruck on both sides.

Whites were made up of everyone else with the exception of: Jackson Cotchin Foley McGuane Simmonds Nason Griffiths Roberts who were either in the rehab group or weren't training at all.

Full report here:

Not a side to get too enthused about at this stage. Seems Hardwick is focussed on at least a standard team structure with a spine built out of 3 tall defenders, 2 key forwards plus rotating rucks even if the quality isn't there yet. I still see Edwards as too small to be a defender. Not sure about Post at FB although he did play in defence at U18 level. One positive is Martin, Taylor, Post and Vickery from our last two drafts are already pushing first 18 going by that side. In time we'll probably have Griffs replace Polly and Cotch, Foley and Jacko taking over from Jordie, Thomson as mids.

Can anyone tell me how the Cous is going ???
Cousins looked to be in great shape and seemed to pretty much cruise through the match. There were a few uncharacteristic errors in disposal from him today, kicked one ball out on the full directly in front of me while a couple of other passes fell a little short, but in fairness all those kicks were into a pretty stiff breeze. For me I would love to see him being used as an impact player coming off the bench. With his gut running he would be a useful weapon in the second half of quarters when his opponents might be looking for a breather.

In this photo Martin looks huge. As big as if not bigger than Lids  :o

Rance seems to have bulked up more the arms and upper body as well.

Top mark by Polly today btw  :clapping.

Rance is freaking big and Moore has bulked up as well, actually can someone please explain to me why so far this pre season a lot of supporters on this site said our players had not bulked up or that they were still small. Hell I will even admit that Edwards has bulked up, out of the photo shoot I didn't really notice any really under developed players bar some of the kids like maybe Taylor and thats about it. Even Nason even looks good for his height.

But they are just my opinions and yes I know teams like Geelong have bohemeths but gee our blokes are not as bad as the crap they keep ketting.

While Foley faces a long stint on the sidelines his teammates have stepped up their pre-season campaign.

The players went through a match simulation yesterday with two umpires controlling play.

Graham Polak, Brett Deledio and new recruit Dustin Martin were standouts during the hour long session at Craigieburn.

The buffed up bodies of Alex Rance and Kelvin Moore were also noticeable.

Trent Cotchin didn't participate but was part of the kicking, marking and tackling drills.

Ben Cousins also did a separate sprint session.

Richmond meets Hawthorn in Launceston on February 13.
