Sitting here at Cazaly's in Cairns waiting for training to start. There's no stands worth talking about.  Wind blowing straight down the ground. The ground looks about the same length as the G, but doesnt seem quite as wide. The surface looks OK, like thick cooch(?) grass. There's about 300 people here to watch training.

It's about 24 degrees, humid and a warmish breeze.

Coaches, Whitey & Cotch first on the ground.  Dave Astbury walking (limping) around with a big compression bandage on his knee.  A few of the boys wearing gloves on one hand. Shane Tuck training. Lids doing the press conference.  Lots of Suns officials watching.

Starting with getting the feel of the ball on the turf and some well executed 30 metre passing and handball drills with lots of talking.  Now working on kick outs and transition to attack, one end of the ground to the other.  Pretty soon it degenerated into goalkicking at each end, which might be a challenge tomorrow if this wind keeps up.

All over in about 30 minutes.
Cheers for the report Muscles  :cheers. Sounds like Tucky is 23rd man and may not be playing for Coburg on Sunday.

I know we want all our players to experience travelling interstate but it's a little bit odd sticking Astbury on a plane for 3 hours when he's recovering from a leg injury.

Yeah, MT, it did seem a bit odd bringing Dave along. I didn't get to talk to him, but he looked pretty wistful. I wondered if it was for morale reason?

Michael and Fay(?) Tuck were at the social event last night at the North Cairns Tigers Club.  It's safe to say that they're both feeling that Shane is doing everything he can to get a game, but that the youth policy at the club makes it hard for him to break in.

Brendan Lade also spoke and took questions.  One was directly about Shane and another was pretty direct about Gus.  He neatly sidestepped the Tucky question, but took the Gus one head on.  Said Gus was inconsistent at Coburg.  Called him a match winner one week and missing in action the next.  Said Gus has been told that he has to string a number of good games together to move past BrownE, who, Lade said, always gives everything he's got!

sadly for browne (and richmond) that doesn't seem like a hell of a lot.

Training Tigers in Craigieburn
richmondfc.com.au
Thu 28 Jul, 2011

Richmond players returned from a short break today with a strenuous session in Craigieburn.

With the bye weekend approaching, the Tigers were given three days to freshen up, before returning today for a 90-minute session at Highgate Reserve.

In blustery conditions, the players were put through their paces in a number of skill and strength drills, before heading back to the ME Bank Centre for a weights session.

RFCO posted this on BF the other day:

"In the past week I've seen Kel Moore, Derickx, Heslin, Astbury, Grimes and Conca here on their own accord. Some have already taken off for their holidays."
