Early prognosis

Gibcus is set to play minutes in the VFL this week, his first game for the year after hamstring surgery, while Soldo and Young need to get through training. Nankervis is closing in on a return, as is Rioli jnr. Lynch is out of his moonboot, but still "a while away", while Colina and Smith have both consulted external specialists. Brown is close to being ticked off for a return to play, and Campbell is "de-loading" to help build strength in his adductor. Trent Cotchin is also available after a week's rest. - Sarah Black

Tom Brown the longest broken wrist in history it feels like.

He had to have extra surgery on it. That's why it's dragged out

Who is the surgeon we are using? Seems to be at backs galore.

Gibcus has had a setback :(. According to Dimma, Gibbo has had "a bit of discomfort in his hamstring". So, he won't be making his comeback in the VFL this week and we are going to hold him off for a while to see how it progresses.

A 6mth hamstring - FMD.  I could find a meth addict with more idea on how to manage our injured players than our team does

He tore his hamstring off the bone

This type of injury can take anywhere between 4 months to 12 months to get right. It depends on how the reattached heals.

He had problems with infections in the wound

That has nothing to do with our fitness people.

Everything would have been done via the specialist who did the surgery via our team doctors

Josh Gibcus injury update

The Club will take a conservative approach with young defender Josh Gibcus’ hamstring injury after the youngster suffered a setback at training on Thursday.

Scans have revealed a strain in Gibcus’ right hamstring.

Richmond High Performance Manager, Luke Meehan said it was a frustrating injury after what had been a thorough rehabilitation process.

“Josh was closely working towards a return to play before unfortunately injuring his hamstring on Thursday.

“It’s not as significant as his injury in January, and is in a different spot, but given his young age and long future in the game, we will be taking a cautious approach with his recovery- prioritising the long term.

“We will get some rehab work into him over the coming weeks and be able to provide a further update from there.”

Senior coach, Damien Hardwick spoke of Gibcus’ talent on Thursday.

“He is a kid that we see as a 10–12 year player for our footy club so we're not going to push him when he's not ready,” Hardwick said.
