RICHMOND

Running hot: David Astbury and Alex Rance made promising starts to 2011.

Starting slow: Brad Miller kicked a goal in the NAB Cup but would have liked to have got his hands to it a little more.

Injury ward: Jack Riewoldt sent a scare through the camp when he limped off at training through the week, but the Tigers are in good shape on the injury front.

This week: v Port Adelaide at Alice Springs, 7pm Friday (NAB Challenge)
Captain Chris Newman will play his first game of the pre-season, with Nathan Foley, Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin and Daniel Jackson - who has overcome a hamstring - also set to return. Brett Deledio is one week off resuming.

What they say: "He (Riewoldt) just hyper-extended his knee. He will be too sore to play this week, but he should be fine next week," Richmond head of football Craig Cameron.

Can someone clarify for me please?  Is a hyper-extension better or worse than jarring?

Wouldn't say that they are better or worse than each other.
A hyperextension can lead to a tear or rupture of the anterior so if it was a hyper - Jack is a lucky boy.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
