Lyon said Newman should stand down? What do others think?
Absolutely he should
Captain of all people should be behind the coach and should have told these blokes to pull their heads in.
Instead he lead them.
I want them all out
Gutless individuals
Simmonds form this year - crap.  How can he criticise a coach when he's been more pathetic than anyone.

Players  from all clubs talk to each other.
Our players werent happy on sunday night.
Feel sorry for Newman actually, he has gone to represent the playing group and it back fired.
Its obvious the playing group is split.
Also Wallace should not have spilled his guts either. The media turned up on tuesday morning due to Terry telling friends, his days at punt road were over.
Thus the crisis meeting on tuedsay morning.

Monday
- Sugar, Newy, Simmo and King went to Terry and asked him to step down. Terry was surprised as he believed he had the players full support. Terry came back later to them knowing he had the numbers and turned it back onto Newy and the rebel 4-5 players and told them if you want me sacked you have to sack me.

This isn't quite right I dont' think Mr One-Eyed.

Hutchy said that Newman & King went to TW's office and Newman asked TW to resign. Hutchy admitted that Kane Johnson and Simmonds were involved in laoding the gun so to speak and sent Newman to pull the trigger

Have to say well done to Joel Bowden & Richo (though I suppose you wouldn't expect anything less) for showing common sense
You're right. I was trying to put all the names together as I was listening and typing. I'll edit my post.

Actually Deledio was my choice as Captain. My logic being that apart from being a B&F winner and a good player I thought that the responsibility would have helped improve some of the areas of his game that he is still working on. North rolled the dice and appointed Carey at what was 22y.o - think we could have done the same.. but I digrese  ;D

Captain of all people should be behind the coach and should have told these blokes to pull their heads in.
Instead he lead them.

It will be interesting to see what happens next :-\

And if the club were on the verge of sacking Wallace, these players have made it impossible for them to do so IMO.
If they do, it will look like they support these Judas players.

You have a go at people feeling a bit sorry for terry but it's OK to feel sorry for Newman :thumbsup

Well anyway the way Hutchy has "reported" it.

Johnson led the charge and went to Newman.

Perhaps Newman should have had a chat to Richo and Joel first rather than russling up Jake King and confronting TW.

No-one has been able to explain why King was there - I have to agree with Lyon that is the funniest thing in a "struth how stupid is that" sort of way

Agree - it would seem the coupe has backfired  ;D

have to laugh, its actually comedy at its best at punt road.
Jake King went in with Chris Newman, how funny is that.
Wouldnt think the younger players would want to speak up. They are worried about there contracts and there future which they wouldnt want to jepodise.
Ala Akermanis.
you might find the playing group is split down the middle

If that's the case what happens for the remainder of 2009 and more importantly in 2010 with a new coach?

WP.
Newman wouldnt have gone to Wallace with just a handfull of players as support.
Just shows how split the group is and how much Terry has lost control

I dont know, glad it aint my problem though, as life will go on when Wallace is gone, but with a bad stench left at Punt Road.

Clearly the playing group can't be split that much or they would have got rid of Wallace, the situation would have been impossible to carry on with Wallace in charge if the split was that bad. Looks like the main instigators were those who weren't playing and probably don't deserve to ever play again, certainly not those you'd be paying any attention to anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, Simmonds, King & Johnson need to be delisted immediately. No great loss there on current form. Newman should stand down as captain, but not be dropped, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for being naive and pressured by his ex-captain and backing the wrong horse, so he should keep playing, but not as captain.
