Pull your head in, Nick Riewoldt: Ben Cousins

A BLUNT warning from Ben Cousins rings loud for Richmond's Jack Riewoldt as he sets about smashing the perception he is too cocky to be a team leader.

Riewoldt has revealed an over-the-top goal celebration in a practice match at Yea in February sparked strong words from the veteran.

" 'Cuzzy' said to me that day 'going forward, that's not what we're all about'," Riewoldt said. "That is something that's really stuck in my mind."

The Tigers' great forward hope was also dragged by coach Damien Hardwick in a clear message to tone it down against an undermanned Geelong team.

Riewoldt said that moment in the country was the "turning point" in the way he portrays himself on the ground.

The Tigers' Coleman Medal hope said talk he is over-confident for a fourth-year player in the bottom team is totally out of line.

"I'm confident. I've got no doubt I'm a confident person and I'm an 'out there' character, but I'm far from happy with myself and what I've achieved in the game so far," Riewoldt said.

"That's a misconception a lot of people have got about me."

Riewoldt sensed he was in trouble the moment he let his emotions spill out in Yea.

"As soon as I kicked it, I thought, 'I'm in a bit of strife here'. The runner came out and Dimma (Hardwick) brought me straight off."

"I've done stuff on the field, I've regretted.

"I take full responsibility for what I've done. It's something I'm wary of."

Well lets just hope that with more wins comes more control, he probably gets so excited because he is not used to winning, that will change too.... ;D
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

I think you are missing a couple of points X

Granted the newspaper has created a headline for no other reason than they can - the story is actually a good one because it highlights:

1/ Cuz' leadership at the club

and

2/ Jack's development as a player.

Also you may find that Jack "told" the story as part of the interview as opposed to ambushed by it  :thumbsup
