CORNES BELIEVES RICHMOND’S BEST “CAN BEAT ANYONE” AFTER FRIDAY NIGHT DELIGHTBy Mae James

1 May 2022Kane Cornes has increased confidence in Richmond after their demolition of West Coast on Friday night, saying “they can beat anyone” if they bring their best in 2022.
The Tigers defeated the Eagles by a whopping 109-points at Optus Stadium, leaving West Coast fans shellshocked at the heavy defeat.
Cornes told SEN’s Crunch Time that the win would’ve given the Tigers “a massive psychological boost”, while it also “definitely puts them in finals contention”.
Tom Lynch booted home seven goals in his milestone 200th game, while teammate Shai Bolton was “absolutely electrifying in all that he was able to do”.
The 23-year-old totalled 15 score involvements and 30 disposals in a best on ground performance.
While Cornes still has concerns over Richmond’s midfield with key absences and form issues, he now has high hopes for the club.
“I would have questions over the depth of their midfield against good opponents. That’s always the area I’ve been concerned about them this year,” he said.
“I sort of had Richmond in and around six to 10 (ladder position) this year. When you add that quality back in, they’re definitely good enough to compete and to win a final.
“Considering how close the season is, pretty much (anywhere between) five to 14 (on the ladder) is pretty even in the competition.
“I just think it puts them in contention to really beat anyone that they play on any given day when they get that quality back.
“Dylan Grimes back in there now, Prestia hopefully gets a decent run of it... Cotchin fresh off a break and then Dustin Martin, the best player in the competition, still comes back in, so it’s going to be handy.”
