A new chapter for @Richmond_FC, with the reconstruction of Punt Road officially beginning.

The famous Jack Dyer stand that has stood since 1913 is coming down, with a new two-level grandstand and state of the art facilities taking its place.

It's nice to see Steve Dimopoulos wanting "women"and "girls" rightfully represented and looked after. Just one question,

What is a woman?
The club that keeps giving.

Punt Road Oval Redevelopment Given Green Light

RFC website
1 July 2025

The most significant infrastructure project in the history of the Richmond Football Club has commenced, after the Club’s Board gave Stage 1 of the project the green light.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for our Club,” Richmond CEO Shane Dunne said.

“It will make us stronger on and off the field and ensure we are set up for success for generations to come. Importantly, this redevelopment will ensure Richmond stays in Richmond, our home since 1885."

Stage 1 of the Punt Road Oval redevelopment will include the construction of the new Jack Dyer Stand, a three-level underground car park as well as state-of-the-art facilities for our female athletes.

Punt Road Oval itself will be realigned and reshaped, making it the same size as the MCG. Spectator amenities will be improved, providing greater capacity and a more comfortable experience to watch our AFLW and VFL games.

“An enormous amount of work has gone in to getting us to this stage. The support of the Federal and State governments has been critical, as has the support of the AFL, major donors and our members and fans. The Club will also inject a significant amount of its cash reserves into the project.” Dunne said.

Built Environs has been appointed as builder with the $85 million Stage 1 of the project expected to be completed by mid-2027.

The Club will now seek to secure the remaining $25 million funding to enable Stage 2 of the redevelopment, which includes the establishment of the William Cooper Centre and new offices for Richmond’s administration.

“When complete, this will be an incredible outcome for our athletes, our staff, our fans and our commercial and community stakeholders,” Dunne said.

“Our Club is privileged to be based in the heart of one of the world’s greatest sporting precincts and in the shadows of the MCG. We want this to be a Club that attracts and retains the best talent on and off the field and this redevelopment will ensure that is the case.

“The job is not done from a fundraising perspective – we have a $25 million gap to fill - so we will continue to work with stakeholders, major supporters and our members and fans to build our financial strength to ensure we get the project completed in its entirety.”
