Punt Road Oval pictorial tour
« on: April 13, 2006, 04:00:05 AM »
While I was down watching training I took some pics of Punt Road Oval for those interstate/OS or anyone who hasn't been to the ground in the last few years since the JDF improvements. Enjoy  :thumbsup.

Walk of Honour and the Members' wing

Outer wing and new/current scoreboards (the old scoreboard use to be behind the Northern end goals).

You look at Punt Road Oval in the best nick it's ever been (it's ridiculous no VFL games are played there  ::) ) and then head over to the abandoned Vic Park which is in ruin apart from the ground surface and it makes you laugh whenever the Pies bleat about tradition.

The ground started looking nice again since Bernie built the little white picket fence around the ground.  Gives it almost an English county cricket look.  Not that i would know what an English county cricket ground looked like, but it looks quaint.

Take one last look at the social club before it gets demolished early on in 2008.

Thanks for the memories - One-eyed! :thumbsup

Mopsy, I love your avatar.
Mopsy would have terrorised alot of people on the wing of Punt Road as phtographed in the pictures above.

To be honest, I wish I could find some first hand stories by Mopsy of his career. It would make fascinating reading
