Health scare for Nathan Brown

RICHMOND star Nathan Brown has told of an off-season health scare that threatened his eyesight.
Brown, 31, contracted an eye disease called pterygium, which can cause blindness if left untreated.
He had surgery in October to remove the growth, which covers the colour part of the eyeball.
"It's a sun spot that grows over your eye and you can end up in pretty big trouble (if it's not removed), so I had to get that scalpelled off," Brown said this week.
"I had a bloodshot eye for about four weeks. It didn't look the best and everybody at the club found it humorous except me."
Brown said effects of the disease meant he was restricted to dark places.
"The pain was ridiculous, like a massive big bit of sand in your eye," he said.
"A lot of surfers get it from the glare off the water, so I don't know how I got it," he said. "I don't surf, I don't ski, so I may have to wear the sunglasses more often."
