Richmond won't talk finals despite third-straight win

RICHMOND fans may be daring to dream about a surprise September appearance, but midfielder Nathan Foley says the club is still not talking finals.

The Tigers notched their third straight win on Saturday night against top-four aspirant Fremantle, but it is the nature of the 49-point demolition that has long-suffering Tigers fans most excited.

However, Foley said he and his teammates would not be getting carried away.

"It's not something we're talking about at the moment," Foley said of a potential finals charge.

"We're really excited about beating Fremantle, who are a top-four, top-six contender, but it's all process-driven at the moment."

A week after collecting 40 touches against the Brisbane Lions, Foley was again impressive with 20 disposals against the Dockers.

And after struggling through two injury-riddled seasons, the 25-year-old said he felt like he was a first-year player again at times.

"I haven't played a lot under Dimma (coach Damien Hardwick), so I've sort of had to learn the gameplan and all that sort of stuff," Foley said on 3AW.

He said it was a pleasure to be playing in a midfield group that no longer relied on one or two players to carry the rest.

"We're really getting some depth through the midfield," he said.

"It's a sign of a good team, I think.

"Last week Trent Cotchin got tagged and yesterday it was Dustin Martin, so it's good to be able to spread that load."

The Tigers also are spreading the load in the forward line.

They had 10 individual goalkickers on Saturday night, indicating the team is becoming less reliant on the scoring prowess of Jack Riewoldt to win games.

Defender Luke McGuane said the influence of the club's three off-season recruits - Brad Miller, Shaun Grigg and Bachar Houli - was important.

"Brad Miller provides a lot of structure for us," McGuane said on The Sunday Footy Show.

"Grigg has been fantastic for us since Round 1 - he'd be right up there in our best and fairest.

"And Bachar Houli has really found his feet down back."
