Partying at Richmond's Darwin hotel (Herald-Sun)

3. IT COULD ONLY HAPPEN IN DARWIN

JOURNO mate on the ground in Darwin yesterday reported that the Holiday Inn, Richmond's official hotel for its Top End trip, was living up to its name.

As the Tiger prepared to take on Port Adelaide, a party was erupting.

"Lot of noise coming from Richmond's Darwin hotel. About 50-odd tourists cheering, loud megaphones and drinking games. Not ideal preparation," came the report.

I pesonally am a bit worried about this trend. I see in cairns we are staying at the holiday inn also! On the main strip & booked out allready! School holidays, part atmosphere. I would be more inclined to take them a bit inland on the northern beaches, I think that joint in Port douglas is pretty fancy! Wouldn't put up with noise/partying. Get there early have a round of golf the day before a nice easy run down to the beach on the sand "Yeah I know that's what is on the beach  ;D"
Cairns is great but the team is there for the footy.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
