Indication Match (1) - v Melbourne
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:35:34 PM »
This Saturday to me is going to be a great indication of the improvement in our team.

Teams such as Melbourne are teams we should be able to beat to show we have improved.

Still in the season which is great and I know deep in our hearts we want Richmond to make the finals and have some luck getting there.

One poster did mention us "over achieving" which might not be wrong.

Melbourne, Essendon, Sydney, North Melbourne, Adelaide and now Western Bulldogs are teams we are able to beat which could be the difference between us finishing eight and 13th.

I am probably being very optimistic with Richmond, simply because I am over/sick of us not at least playing in the finals, I am hanging on to hope that we sneak our way there only for our future.

This match on Saturday will be a great indication which there are more to come.

I personally believe Melbourne will win, however I am hoping for us to preduce something special.

If we lose, this will hurt as I see this as Richmond can only beat "bad" teams and never those 50/50 teams.

If we win, confidence at Tigerland will be as high as maybe 2008 or even 2001?

Obvisouly form of other teams is a massive part of those 100%, 50% and 1% winnable matches.

15: Carlton - Having the "wood" on us I expect to lose.

16: Essendon - Indication Match (2) - 50/50

17: Gold Coast - The only real winnable match.

18: Geelong - Same as Carlton.

19: Bye.

20: West Coast - The "HOT" team of 2011, can not see us winning in Perth.

21: Sydney - Indication Match (3) - 50/50

22: Melbourne - Indication Match (4) - 50/50

23: Adelaide - Indication Match (5) - Adelaide have the "wood" on us in Adelaide, however there form is very average at the moment.

24: North Melbourne - Indication Match (6) - 50/50

6 Indication Matches, win 3 or more and I will be believing in we have changed.

Less then 3, still in the air.

The "Hope" ...

Win all 6 Indication Matches ... take us to 11 and a half.

Pinch a "hard" match and we will be in the finals.

I believe we'll win. Collingwood showed how Melbourne's back line can struggle 1 on 1 and their forward line is short. If we play a good pressure game Melbourne's short forwards will find it hard marking long balls. The game is in our favour and so will be the support at the G

Except they're now playing Stefan Martin and the 200+cm Gawn in the forward line  ::)

All that matters to me is beating Carlton. At this stage of our development it doesn't really matter how many games we win this year.
But beating Carlscum is all that I care about.

As for indication....... The day we beat Geelong is the day I say, "we are ready!". The tiger will well and truly be wide awake and having breakfast.  :gotigers

Wiping that arrogant smirk off the face of Carltank fans and having the psychological advantage over them for Round 1 next year would be worth more at this stage of the season than 2 wins against any other clubs that we're playing.
Push up!

With the Bombers getting thrashed last night ;D, the winner of our game today grabs a spot in the top 8. These games where the reward for winning is as important to our opponents as it is to us have been the ones in the past we've frozen under expectations and embarrassed ourselves in not giving a whimper and typically with the game over by halfway through the 2nd quarter  :P.

Games such as today's are the ones where a Club can gain respect. A chance for our cubs to stand up today and show everyone they aren't phased by these 'crunch' games (to use a Wallace-ism :outtahere) and they can perform individually and as a team at the level required. Dimma just has to ask them how much do they really want it today?
