* I’m a bit worried about Moore and Townsend going at our players too hard at the moment.  But it’s really good for the group to have a couple of players like that in there and putting that pressure on.

* Moorey has added a little bit of flexibility with his run and toughness in the middle. He can play inside and outside, which is handy for us.

* Towner is just a competitive beast. Loves the contact, loves trying to hurt people. He hasn’t done that much at our guys yet, but hopefully he does against the opposition.

* Midfield focus leading up to the NAB Cup?
We’ve had a good block up to now. We really want to hone the fitness and the skills for the midfield to lead into the Fremantle game. We’re looking forward to see how our midfield is going to shape up going into NAB 1 and Round 1.

Really warming up to Townsend. Let's hope he can apply physical pressure to the opposition, especially their taggers.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

It would be good to actually see it rather than hear about it.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The AFL’s decision to reduce the interchange cap from 120 to 90 rotations for each team per game in season 2016 has had a marked impact on Richmond’s pre-season training program.

“A lot of our core players have had to learn different roles,” the Tigers’ midfield coach Brendon Lade told ‘Roar Vision’.

“With the rotations coming down, it’s harder for the group to be able to have as many rests as they did last year.

“I think a lot of the teams will be doing the same thing and (have their players) learning a lot of different positions.

“Our older guys, if they were just midfielders, they’re learning a different position as well.

“So it’s exciting at the moment, and we’ll see how it goes when we go into the games for real.”
