Game plan - looking to the future
« on: August 14, 2011, 07:20:32 PM »
Harwick keeps going on about the end of the journey and I think today I may have caught a glimpse of it.
We were on top and had the swanz by the curlys but players still went against their basic instinct at times towards the end.
The basic instinct is what is great about this team when they are on a roll and I just hope/think Hardwick enforcing them to go outside their instinct and engraining this in them is all leading to what we are looking towards.
Once we teach them to think and act against their instincts when required is all going to bode well in 2-3 years time.
When this game style is mentally engrained he can then say go out and play ......

Bump

He's actually well and truly coached their basic instincts out of them. Hardwick is a dud.

I would like to see Matthew Knights coach this club with Ling and a few others providing support.

I don't think the club has had a more passionate, demanding leader in the last 20 years.  Essendon haven't improved in the slightest since he left and the bombers played an exciting brand of football under him.  He made the tough decisions for the long term.  He killed off Lloyds career and didn't give hacks like Houli a game.  He has won a flag coaching Geelongs VFL side.

Its time this club was coached by one of our own again.

I like this idea. Well ahead of his time by the looks of how most teams are trying to play now.
