TOO EARLY FOR TIGERS TO TALK FINALS

James Mottershead
Herald-Sun
5 July 2017

Jack Riewoldt is trying to keep a lid on it but the Richmond spearhead is happy to admit the Tigers have found their roar and are ready to sink their teeth into the last eight rounds.

Richmond has been touted as a premiership fancy as it sits inside the top four and is strong possibility of securing a double chance for the first time since 2001.

Riewoldt believes the Tigers are a more balanced side but didn’t want to talk finals just yet.

“We’ve found our brand and identity,” Riewoldt said.

”We seem to be playing some really good football and playing up to the standards we expect every week.

Asked about finals excitement, Riewoldt replied: “There’s still eight weeks to go so plenty of football and water to go under the bridge."

Riewoldt said Richmond now had the ability to hang around in contests and possesses greater resilience, which was on show last week when the rampant Tigers overran Port Adelaide in the second half.

It was the sixth time this season the Tigers have got the better of an opponent in the second half.

“We’ve been in plenty of games, as we were on the weekend, where we weren’t playing the football we like but have managed to grind out a pretty resounding win,” he said.

“The strength of our side is the ability to hang around in the contest.”

Jack is by far our best performed media representative AT THE CLUB. It would've been so tempting to talk up the fundaments of our game plan or our insane connection last week but he stuck to script last week
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
