Watched it again.

Besides the third quarter we were thrashed all over the ground and shown up in terms of team pressure, they didn’t actually capitalise on their amount of dominance.

Before the game I thought Port had a soft underbelly but after watching it twice I think they are the real deal. Obviously we were not ready for the contest and effected by the media scrutiny and unfounded attack on the club.

Jack mentioning as much on his sen podcast talking about black lives matter (bad luck for the mauled Vlaustin), so that confirms the extent of where the rhetoric veered and the concerns within the club because of it.

It now makes me wonder if there will be future concerns on whether or not a player should be delisted or traded with the fear of the social ramifications and racial implications involved in making such a decision based on race. It shouldn’t be but who knows what they are going to complain about next.

This crap is just going to lead to white players excluding non-white players from all their banter and horseplay out of fear of being labelled "racist" ...which of course will in turn lead to them being labelled racist for excluding non-white players.....it's a classic ideological trap....

Woah! Jack didn't refer or link BLM to Chol or the team song incident(s). He didn't even mention any names. He simply used supporting BLM as an example of the playing group wanting to be role models in everything they do. The old-field stuff over the past week was the group not being role models.

If you listen again he actually mentions it in the same sentence and in the same context of the incident after being asked to comment in regards to that issue.
He brings up BLM and he wasn’t even asked about that issue at all. He mentions it in relation to what is being discussed.

Yes it was in the same sentence because Jack was just illustrating the difference in terms of the players acting as role models or not. With BLM (as an example he was using) they were being role models; conversely, with the theme song shenanigans they were not being role models. That's all he meant. He wasn't trying to link the two separate issues.

Round 11 report card

Foxsports
13 August 2020

RICHMOND

Despite losing to the Power and losing the contested possession count by -43, the Tigers wouldn’t have lost too many admirers on the weekend. They were undermanned yet managed to keep themselves in the game, thanks to their excellent forward 50 efficiency. At 6-4-1, the Tigers are still well placed to have a big run at the top four this year.

In the votes

Nick Vlastuin was massive in defence, finishing with 18 disposals, nine intercepts, six rebound 50s and four marks. Kamdyn McIntosh also may have had his most influential game of the season, while Shai Bolton’s impressive performances as a midfielder continue to stack up, finishing with team-high contested possessions (11) and clearances (7). It was also pleasing to see Jack

Riewoldt return to some goalkicking form, booting three majors, while Jake Aarts and Mabior Chol contributed two goals each.

Room for improvement

Yes they were brave, but if you want to compete with the league’s best teams this season, can you afford to lose the contested possession count by -43? Can you afford to be smashed from clearances (-18)? Can you afford to only have 24 inside 50s for a game while conceding 55 to your opposition? The Tigers have always been a quality-over-quantity team, but the lack of quantity across the board against the Power was alarming.
