Freo at 2.05 is a bit rich.I cant see them winning 8 games this year.Do they reckon Young Rhys is going to carry the whole team to the finals.

1. We should not worry what Mike Sheahan says let alone any other journo whether it be Barrett Shaw Langdon or whoever.
2. We should not be comparing ourselves to Carlton. Four years ago we were comparing ourselves to the Hawks and as late as 2006 we thought we were in a better position than them too. We should try to emulate success but not compare ourselves to someone else.
3. We should keep our feet on the ground. Low key. All this buzz excitement and premature talk may play with fragile minds. Look what happened to us in 97 and 02 when we were expected to prosper.

Just focus on what we need to do and don't worry what journos think. Journos tipping us for the 8 come September or tipping us to win in Friday's papers does not equate to
victory or success. Keep your eyes on the prize Tigers and don't read this drivel.

I'm sure Mike is improving his hard-punching style doing fluff pieces for The Price Fixer Pratt in Malaysia.

Living in the lap, whilst never attending a post match press conference - there you go Mike - more hard hitting, no holes barred, true grit, in depth, full analysis journalism, without a scent of pre-determination in your articles.

You absolute tosser !!!

I think 6th to 7th is where we are at at this point. To go beyond this point we will need

a key position forward, either a draft pick or if Tom Hawkins disappoints at Geelong maybe they would put him up for trade, which would be extremely doubtful imho but gee I think hes going to be a very very good spearhead down the track.

a 24 to 25 year old ruckman, Mark Seaby is out of contract come the end of 2009, I wouldnt be surprised to see us chasing him again next year.

another class junior midfielder or 2 would top us of beautifully for a tilt in 2011/2012.

Afew years ago, I think i said we were heaps of players short ... right now i think we are closer than we have been for a long long time, we are about 3 to 4 players short, but with some handy trading and good drafting, we may have everything we need in the next 12 to 18 months.

As for sheahan, we need to kick him of the bandwagon.

We are one of 12 teams that could finish 3rd to 8th.
I guess it all depends on injuries and winning all the close games.
If we can overcome our boogy sides lke saints, swans, crows and north anything is possible.
Will hawthorn suffer a premiership hangover and slide down the ladder ?
So much upside to Richmond and Carlton.
I am very nervous about round 1....already shaping as a 8 point game. They did beat us fair and square last time.
You just get the feeling history might repeat....remember all the hoopla over judds first game for carlton. It will be no different when cuz lines up for us.I just hope the players are focussed.
Anyhow teams come from outside the 8 and become powerhouses the next year all the time.
I for one are daring to dream

I have something to report.
Over here in the west,Perths answer to tony shaw a mr karl langdon has just said we will finish BOTTOM 4.This was on 6prs morning sports program.
I think this is fantastic news as the opposite of what this bloke says usually happens.
He came up with some corkers last year.
1   He reported that Ben Cousins going to Collingwood was a "done deal" (june)
2   He argued with Glen Jackovich for almost an hour that WAFL team Subiaco would beat WCE.Later that afternoon Eagles rolled the saints.(august)

I cant wait to ring him md season when we are entrenched in the 8 and remind him of his pre season prediction
Golden rule: anything said on 6PR or 5AA is biased garbage. If true to form Langdon probably reckons both WA sides will make top 4 lol or at least top 8. Great stations to listen to after a home team loss though. Bloody hilarious how much they and their callers bag their own  :lol.

Yes MT
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than listening to 6pr after an eagle or docker loss.
Even after we flogged the pair of them last year some callers still rang up and to blame the umpires.
Its an absolute god sent to have shows like on the couch and footy classified so I can escape the madness.
You guys over in the east are lucky to have mike.We will trade for Karl any day. Will even throw in brad hardie for free.

I wouldn't go that far  :lol.

And we in vicland still have to put up with Tony Shaw, Grant Thomas and Spud himself polluting our airways with their loserdom gibberish  :help. You can keep though Tim "rock the world" Gossage (or Gooseage as WP says) over there and all his RFC "scoops"  :wallywink.

Mike's bumped his prediction of where we and Carlton will finish up a touch to between 4th-6th.
