Tim Livingstone just said Dusty will be assessed tonight by the medicos on the Gold Coast as he's still sore and we don't want to take any risks before flying out tomorrow. Need to check the impact zone. Livingstone mentioned ribs  :-\.

Probably self evident but the Tigers are officially saying it is a rib injury for Dusty

Dusty said he's right for next week. Hope so. Geelong fear him.

Highly doubtful he will play with rib injury.

If that's the case then he'll miss weeks. Probably 2-4 you'd think.

Tom Morris on Fox Footy this arvo:

* Dusty not on the flight back to Melbourne. He stayed overnight in hospital.

* Damage done to the kidney as the Club statement says (WP's post).

* Will not play next week. Expected to miss at least a couple of weeks. If it's like Lachie Whitfield then that was two months out and even then Whitfield wasn't right when he came back. So Dusty's situation could be season ending if it's on the severe side.

Dusty goneski for rest of year. Significant kidney damage.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Update: Dustin Martin latest

Scans have revealed Dustin Martin has suffered a significant kidney injury in last night’s match against Brisbane at Metricon Stadium.

Martin left the field in discomfort after an incident in the third quarter and was taken to a Gold Coast hospital following the win.

Richmond Club Doctor, Greg Hickey said that he expected Martin to make a full recovery.

“Dustin stayed the night in hospital for observation and has been seen by a urologist this morning. He is feeling good and remains stable,” Hickey said.

“Given the delicate nature of the injury and recovery timeline, he will not play football again this season.

Richmond General Manager- Football Performance, Tim Livingstone said that Martin’s overall health remained the Club’s priority.

“We are incredibly disappointed that Dustin will spend some time on the sidelines but we are focused on his immediate well-being right now,” Livingstone said.

“Dustin is in great hands with the medical and support staff around him and we will support him however we can throughout his recovery.”

Martin will remain in hospital for several days for observation.

As much as it sucks, it will also give him a chance to recover from the foot injury he is carrying. Team didn’t collapse in a heap last night after he went down. He will return next year stronger than ever

x2

Main thing is Dusty hopefully makes a full recovery and comes back round 1 next year good as new.

ps. It's just been one of those years with all these bloody long-term injuries  :banghead. Just when we get one or two back we lose more and they've all been our stars going down.
