so he tore it off the bone again  FFS :banghead :banghead :banghead

Did he?

All reports say a slight tendon tear not that it's been torn off the bone

Massive difference I would have thought  ;D

Regardless of whether it was tendon off the bone or muscle ripped from tendon, it still requires reattchment surgically and a significant rehab time

Reattachment surgery?

Not how reads

From: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/6301/newsid/151787/default.aspx

"Talented, young Richmond defender Dylan Grimes has undergone surgery to repair the tendon in his left hamstring.

Grimes damaged his hamstring during last Friday’s training session at Moorabbin, and the Tigers’ medical staff subsequently discovered a small split in the tendon. "

Don't think putting a few staples in a tendon = re-attaching it to anything.

disagree, stapling or suturing it back is re-attaching it for mine   ;D
Whether its slight or not means SFA especially in Grimesy's case, he'll be out for a long time. Won't play in the early rounds of the season.

Hamstring surgery for Richmond defender Dylan Grimes

    Al Paton
    From: Herald Sun
    November 27, 2012

RICHMOND hopes Dylan Grimes will be available for Round 1 next season after surgery on his cursed hamstring.

Grimes went under the knife today after hurting his left hamstring for the third time this year. It is understood he suffered a small split in the tendon.

Grimes, who had been firing in pre-season training, pulling up sore at training last Friday.

He is the only Richmond player not taking part on a training camp in Cairns.

Grimes, 21, has played just 17 games but is seen as a key to the Tigers' young backline.

He has been plagued by hamstring injuries, travelling to Germany for treatment by soft-tissue expert Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt this year after injuring his left hamstring twice.

In 2011 he tore the hamstring tendon in his right leg.

"Given Dylan’s history with hamstring injuries, we believe surgery was the best option," Richmond’s elite performance manager Peter Burge said.

"We won’t know the extent of his recovery time until it settles from the surgery.

"Despite the setback, Dylan is keen to start his rehabilitation and is hopeful of being ready for the start of the 2013 season."

Grimes tweeted today: "Just about to go under the knife.. Thanks everyone for the support, it has been so overwhelming! Can't wait to see the boys back in melb!"

Richmond's Grimes has hamstring surgery

Updated November 27, 2012

Promising Richmond defender Dylan Grimes will be out of action indefinitely after undergoing hamstring surgery.

The Tigers say Grimes is hopeful of regaining fitness in time for the start of next season but they are not yet able to make an accurate prediction.

... after making a solid start to pre-season training, he pulled up sore at training last Friday.

Subsequent scans revealed a split in his left hamstring tendon.

This puts pressure on Rance and the best dressed gardener I have ever laid eyes on. Wouldn't back either of those two to beat a quality forward very often. We need you Grimesy. Is there such thing as a hamstring transplant? Where is Tiv

Well this has changed my mind now regarding Griffiths. Unless Astbury tears it up this preseason and steps up in Grimes place, Griffiths may have to play CHB after all. Disappointing all round.  :'(

If we consult some Isaac Asimov we just may work out how to give him bionic hammies.

Totally throws planning out without Grimes.
He's the coolest head in defence I have seen at Tigerland since Bowden but the difference being is a genuine key defender with a huge appetite for hard work.
I would almost go so far as to say he was one of our 5 most important players next season & I'm now genuinely concerned about our defence in 13.

Can we play him in a motorised wheel chair?

Can still punch the ball away.
Go Tigers!
