Suspect it will be labor majority and only because dutton hasn't done a good enough job. Releasing policy and budget projections 2-3 days before voting is too little too late

Actually hope it is because a Labor(sic)-Greens minority government would just about finish the country off for good.

They probably have too many seats to make up in only one election and that was before the disastrous campaign -which in the brightside might've actually saved up from a Labor-Greens minority government at least. Only glimmer of hope is if there's enough fall out from Wong opening her big mouth re:the voice  - if only she'd done it a week or two earlier.

Agree they've run a terrible campaign.

Reckon people saying stupid things runs on both sides. I think there were 2 crucial errors in the Dutton campaign, having Jacinta Price appear next to him and borrow the Trumpsim and flip it to "let's make Australia great again" and posting pics of herself on socials wearing a MAGA cap. That hurt alot IMHO.

And the 2nd was Jane Hume (sp?) opening her big mouth about WFH.... he said it wouldn't be changed she came out and said it would be something they'd look at in office... contradicting your Leader is campaign suicide. And as a senior person in the opposition she ought have known better

Agree re Wong,  in this age of social media and influencers is she that stupid to think going on a podcast was not going to make it to the news and campaign?  Again as a senior minister she should have known better. Fortunately, as you said being so late in the campaign it is unlikely to cause much damage

FWIW, I thought 6 months ago we'd see a LNP win but over the few of months my view's been ALP returned with smaller majority. Still think that will be the outcome.

Genuinely surprised by the result.

Granted I thought the ALP would win

But never thought it would be with an increased majority.

Interesting two countries have gone to the polls in the last couple of weeks with both incumbent governments on supposedly shaky ground and both have won. Media saying that there is a "Trump Effect" in both results. I think there is some merit in that

And it looks like the Leader of the Greens, Brandt is in trouble to and may lose his seat, will depend on preferences. Wouldn't surprise me because he like Dutton spent very little time campaign in his own electorate..can't take your constituents for granted

Bandt losing his seat would definitely be a silver lining. 

As I said months ago - Labor can win being Liberal-lite but Liberals will never win trying to be Labor-lite.

Bandt will just hold on by the look of it but Max Chandler-Mather is gonski at least.

This election is a reminder that Australian elections are won in the centre. We're not dumb Yanks. Move either way away from the centre and you will get punished as both the LNP and Greens have found out.

The LNP is out of touch with modern Australia. If they continue to listen to their own grifters (hello Jacinta MAGA tantrum Price ), as well as those in the media and on social media last night and this morning who are in total meltdown , and go even more Trumpian, then the LNP will see themselves on the opposition benches for a long time like the Vic Libs. When you live off imported cultural war BS and you've got a religious cult doing your bidding then you're living on the political fringe. Aussies don't go for that fruitloop crap. Menzies would be turning in his grave to what these cookers have done to his party.

the Libs are hopeless, first and foremost is the main reason they lost. Bereft of leaders and i said this a while back to friends that Victoria will go the same way next year. Suburban rail cuts through a whole lot chinese and indain filled areas, which they all brought into this country. You are basically telling them to suck it up and there is no more road for you. Crazy move.

ALP have bought a lot of this election through their migration policy, and if i were an Indian or muslim migrant i know who id vote for.

The other is the fact people fell for the tarriff damage in their retirement savings. They then poanicked and connected the 2 dots. Those same financially illiterate people may want to see how things are going now, because the world has not ended and if they had half a brain would have taken full advatnage of the situation.

Goldstein also could go either way, which is essentially another greens seat in wolf clothing. You only have to see who Daniels sides with on most matters. Old mate Bandt top of that list with the LNP and ALP virtually equal.

Compare the pair. . negative gearing, franking credits, welcome to country this and that. what is the difference?

At least the Liberal of old or One Nation even stood for something.
