Off to the picturesque Cameo cinema in Belgrave last night to see "300..rise of an empire."
First off not as good as the original 300 but nevertheless enjoyable.
This movie concentrated almost exclusively on the sea battle between the Persians and Greeks.
Some quite enjoyable scenes and don't tell me how or why but the movie makers managed to get a cavalry battle of sorts on the high seas...don't know how true this scene was.
Some funny lines in the movie too..Artemesia the Persian general of the fleet asks Themistocles(greek general) over to ask for his surrender. She being smoking hot they end up having sex.Later in a battle to the death between the 2 she quips to him "you fight better than you F..."
On our tried and true scale I give this

Went to the Cameo cinema up in Belgrave last night and watched "Captain America winter soldier"
Well what a wonderful movie ,action galore and a storyline just as good.
The movie went for just over 2 hours and I must admit I was pretty much glued to my seat.
Good performance by Robert Redford as a man of evil.I give this

Not a fan of Afleck but want to see that.

Speaking of film and tv, anyone watching The Code on ABC sunday nights? Two episodes in and the best Aussie drama I have seen in yonks.

funny that i rate him highly out of the current crop of actors.

His proven to not be a one trick pony like some of these other actors out there.

Yes Tiga must see for sure and dwaino i had a read of the Code sounds good too. problem with me i have no time to scratch my arse these days. Movies once every 6 months seems is about it.

Are they going to show a repeat of the first 2 episodes as ive missed it.

ABC has a catch up thing in their website I think. Not sure how far it goes back.

Liking it so far too, al? Without revealing anything, sometimes it seems to play all of its cards only to introduce a new twist or complication. Just hope it hasn't gone too early with its best stuff.

yep, i do like it so far. i dont think all the cards have played yet.
a good story and well made, something that is a rarity from aussie dramas in recent times.

Anzac girls was ok, but it annoyed how they had the current australian flag flying, 35 years or so early.

Saw the movie"100 foot journey" at the classic in Elsternwick yesterday.

The only actor of note that I can remember is Helen Mirren. The movie is set in the south of France, and it involves an indian family forced out of India migrating to a small village in France and trying to set up an  Indian Restaurant. The restaurant they try to get going is 1ooft from A very upmarket French restaurant run by the Helen Mirren  character. The movie follows a fairly  predictable path where the french don't want the Indians in their town and in the end all live happily ever after.Pleasant movie but nothing that will make me remember it in years to come..I give it
