The 2013 Contenders ........... (Adelaide Advertiser)

THE CONTENDERS:
Chris McDermott
Adelaide Advertiser/Sunday Mail (SA)
Sunday, 8th December 2012

Not in years has there been so many teams excited about their genuine premiership chances for a season ahead. Sydney must be considered contender once again.

Hawthorn without doubt is the most talented, the West Coast the favourite for mine and Adelaide with luck should be back there when the whips are cracking.

Fremantle if it is injury-free perhaps, Geelong, Carlton and Essendon maybe, Collingwood possibly but it appears to be heading in a different direction in the short term and Richmond the Cinderella story for the dreamers and the Tiger faithful.

From outside the top eight from last year Richmond appears the team on the move and with an ounce of luck could have played finals this year but as likely as the Tigers are to play finals in 2013 they are just as likely to be out of contention and seeking a new coach by the halfway mark of the season.

Let's hope for the competition's sake the next challenge for the Tigers under Damien Hardwick is a legitimate one.

Time to put a full stop in the 2012 AFL season.

Round 1 of the new season is now just 103 days away.

Merry Christmas.

McDermott know as much about Richmond as Andy D does about having straight teeth
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

wouldnt have thought he would be that far off the mark, although IMO Dimma's job would be safe till at least 2014 you would think.

He is contracted for 2014. This is why post 2 called him a troll and post 3 is a known Adelaide sympathiser
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Hate Adelaide with a passion. Chris is a good journo and he's not far off the mark. if we don't play finals then Hardwick should be sacked. The club expected to play finals last season, so two seasons of failure should result in Hardwick going out the door.

Who knows. There are good coaches out there (Eade) but I think Wayne Campbell gets next crack should we fail. ;D However I reckon we will play finals and we won't have to worry about a new coach for a while.

oh, he just said they'd be looking for a new coach mid season. so they start the process of looking for a new coach mid season and the bloke who still has 18 months on his contract will continue coaching?
Ok, no worries.

his analogy is probably correct.
but geez just a little bitt of research and undeerstanding of list management would not go astray.
list indicators say we are going to be there abouts. list also tells us it wont take much to go wrong to miss or even end up bottom 4. if honest id say another yr like this yr is coming but games into young players who are capable of getting us where we need to be is the real key.
for what its worth i refuse to read so called experts opinions when the so called expert clearly has no idea about critical areas of a list despite having played at the highest level.
what a nuffer this bloke has shown himself to be.
